Reminder to all parents and students.  Tomorrow is Extra Help Day.  If your student has any missing work or has an "F" in any class, they are required to be here from 8-11.  Calls will be made today.

The CC runners will be in Parkston today.  Runners will begin at 4:15 and the race order is jv girls, jv boys, varsity girls, varsity boys

Join the #4hweek fun! We are celebrating 4H members and their accomplishments this week and all year long. 4-H is a place for ALL kids to belong and succeed. National 4H week is celebrated October 3-8, 2022.  We are asking everyone to wear green or a 4H shirt to celebrate #4hweek on Thursday 10/6/2022. Each classroom will get a visit from some local 4h members and a special treat. There is something for everyone in 4H. From shooting sports, horse, livestock showing, dog show, fashion review, special foods, public presentations, photography and indoor exhibits just to name a few. Honestly your options are endless with 4H.

The next School Board Meeting will be held Monday, October 10th in the MS Lab at SC School.  View the latest agenda

A parent meeting will take place at 7PM on October 19th (on-line) for interested HS (current 9-10) and MS students (current 7-8) to discuss a 4-day trip to New York City for the summer of 2024.  Information will be handed out on October 10th.  More information to follow as we get closer to the date.

The county nurse Lacy Eaton will be available on October 21st from 4-7:30 to administer flu vaccinations in the Ag room.  This service is in conjunction with the home Volleyball game at SC.  An insurance or Medicaid card will need to be presented.  Unfortunately, Medicare is not accepted.  No appointments are necessary.  “It is recommended for individuals over the age of 65 to receive the high dose flu vaccine which is not available at the flu clinic”

The cash price onsite is $46 if no insurance/medicaid


Libby Flemming has rescheduled from Monday, October 10th to Tuesday, October 25th.  She will be here giving a presentation with juniors and seniors.  Therefore Seniors do not need to be here Monday until English IV second block.

Elementary health screenings will take place on Thursday, October 27th.   High School screening on October 31st and Colony screenings on October 25th.  Here is a breakdown of what grades are included for this year.
Vision Screening for students in grades K, 1, 3, 5,7,8,10
Hearing Screening for students in grades K, 5,10
Physical Assessments for students in Grades K, 5 (Height and weight checks on K-8)
Scoliosis Screening for girls in grades 5,7
Scoliosis Screening for boys in Grades 8
Forms were sent home with back to school paperwork but height and weight checks permission is a new addition.

Extra Curricular
Friday 10/7 the JV FB game will be in Miller at 4:30PM.  Leave time for Friday JV football to Miller is 2:15 pm from Woonsocket.   Varsity practice in Woonsocket 4-615pm

VB on Thursday with Tripp/Delmont/Armour at Tripp the order of games has been switched.
The 8th grade will play first at 4:30, followed by 7th,  JV and V

This Friday there will not be JH VB practice, but the HS will practice at 2:30 in Woonsocket.

The region Meet for CC has been changed to Vermillion on Thursday, October 13th

Student Opportunities:

ACT Math Test Prep Sessions: Katie Jackson from Wessington Springs has extended the invite to our students to participate in ACT math test prep sessions. The cost is $250 for 6 sessions. Reminders:

Seniors - The last day to sign up for the October 22nd ACT is this Friday, September 16 to avoid late fees.

The seniors will be taking the NCRC assessment on Wednesday, October 12th at 8:15 AM in the middle school lab.
Additionally, Libby Flemming from the National Guards will be at our school on Monday, October 10th at 8:15 AM and would like to briefly speak with all juniors and seniors to discuss the National Guards and opportunities for students. This will be held in the middle school lab.

Come join the Little Tiger Cheer and Dance Camp on Saturday, October 15th at the DWU/Avera Sports and Wellness Complex in Mitchell, SD.

I am Tristan Jensen, a senior at Woonsocket. For my senior project I am putting on a volleyball camp for all Kindergarten to 6th grade girls. The camp will be taking place on November 5th, 2022 in Woonsocket. Kindergarten- 3rd grade will be from 8:00 am- 10:00 am. 4th grade- 6th grade will be from 10:00 am - 12:00. The cost is $30 (includes a T-shirt). The rest of the funds will be donated.  Sign-up sheets are due back to the office by October 13th and will go home with K-5 students today.
