2021 Blackhawk Volleyball Schedule-With some leave times.

A junior high volleyball game is scheduled with Mt. Vernon/Plankinton on Oct. 4 at Woonsocket with a 4:30 start.  We will be playing either 3 or 4 matches as MVP has 26 girls and would like them to get some playing time.

The junior high volleyball girls are scheduled to be in Woonsocket that day.

No JV Football game on 9-13 due to insufficient JV players for Miller.

The next ACT test is October 23, 2021. The deadline to register is September 19, 2021 and must be done online. The closest testing locations are Mitchell and Huron.

Juniors - ASVAB:

The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test is scheduled for Wednesday, October 6 at 8:15 am in the middle school lab. All juniors are required to take this test and should come with their chromebooks fully charged. This test provides career information and determines whether you are qualified to join the military service. The ASVAB does not count towards a class grade. For more questions regarding this exam, please contact me.

The boys left it all out on the field Friday night versus a good Sioux Valley team. We hope to bounce back this week as we travel to Miller Friday.
Football schedule for the week:
Monday: JH & JV take on BEE in Wessington Springs. JH game at 4:30 with JV starting after at roughly 6:00. We will be wearing black jerseys. SC & Woonsocket will be traveling over immediately after school.  HS will watch film, lift, & practice beginning at 4:00. JV players will be involved with varsity practice prior to their game.

Community

Support a long time bus driver from Sanborn Central with the purchase of a Gary's Support Squad shirt.  Gary was diagnosed with Papillary Thyroid Cancer in June of this year. He had surgery on July 6 to remove the thyroid and over 120 lymph nodes on both sides of his neck. He developed complications and the Thoracic duct was leaking Chyle lymphatic fluid into his neck and chest. He had 3 surgeries to repair this with the last and successful surgery being done at Mayo in Rochester. He will have to take the Iodine Radiation pills early September and will isolate for up to 14 days. After that he will have X-Beam radiation Monday - Friday, 40 minutes a day for 6 Weeks in Sioux Falls. He is currently going to physical therapy in Mitchell.
