Friday, September 30-Orange Day

And the "Winners" of the pie in the face contest were Mr. Peterson in first, Mrs. Vermeulen in 2nd, and Mrs. Wilson in 3rd!  Thanks for being such great sports for a great cause to the snackpack program raising $315.  Three students were randomly drawn to help with the process of delivering the pie in the face from each level.

The booster club will be providing a candy treat for best dressed categories.
For the parade entries, a assigned crew will judge the floats and choose a winner. The winning float will receive a Root Beer Float the following week.
Also, the booster club has approved to pay for $25 worth of materials for each parade float. However, they will have to give us the receipts so we can have them on file.
Last but not least the Booster Club will again this year provide us with Friday's Lunch of Walking Taco's/Hotdogs. We appreciate our Booster Club and are blessed with the best!

The Football team will be in WS this evening with a 7:00 kickoff vs Mobridge Pollock
At 6:50 pm with 5 minutes remaining on scoreboard Senoir night will take place for our Football boys.  We will announce Seniors and their parents.   When announced we ask players and parents to walk out to the #50 on the field to be recognized.

The county nurse Lacy Eaton will be available on October 21st from 4-7:30 to administer vaccinations.  This service is in conjunction with the home Volleyball game at SC.  An insurance or Medicaid card will need to be presented.  Unfortunately, Medicare is not accepted.  No appointments are necessary.

A parent meeting will take place at 7PM on October 19th (on-line) for interested HS (current 9-10) and MS students (current 7-8) to discuss a 4-day trip to New York City for the summer of 2024.  Information will be handed out on October 10th.  More information to follow as we get closer to the date.

I am hosting Dig Pink Night on October 18th as my Senior Project. ðŸŽ—🎗Attached is the t-shirt order form. If interested in purchasing, please have them turned into SC or Woonsocket school or to me by October 5th.

FAFSA Night 2022 Ms. Fisher and I, along with Megan Huber from the Mitchell Technical College Financial Aid Department, are hosting a FAFSA (free application for federal student aid) night on Monday, October 3rd at 5:30 pm at Sanborn Central school in the Middle School Lab. The FAFSA is the form that students fill out to apply for grants and loans to help pay for tuition and fees when attending college. Colleges typically require the FAFSA form to be completed in order to determine a student's federal aid eligibility. Additionally, if applying for the Build Dakota Scholarship it is a requirement to have the FAFSA completed. 

All seniors from Sanborn Central and Woonsocket, along with their parents/guardians, are invited to attend this event. This event will consist of explaining the step-by-step process to completing the FAFSA for any college or technical school as well as other information for paying for college.  Although we do not fill out the FAFSA at the event, you will receive detailed instructions for when/if you decide to fill out the form at home. The FAFSA opens up on October 1st and is typically open until the end of June.

ACT Math Test Prep Sessions: Katie Jackson from Wessington Springs has extended the invite to our students to participate in ACT math test prep sessions. The cost is $250 for 6 sessions. Students this may be a once in a lifetime opportunity to give a teacher, or administrator of your choice a PIE IN THE FACE! Friday pies will be delivered to the winners during the pep rally, but hurry fast as the votes close at 3:00 sharp on THURSDAY!  Each teacher and administrator will have a bag with their name on it located in the library.  The top THREE with the most money in their bag will win.  Donations will be donated to the snack pack program within all the committee churches.

Aloha from the Sanborn Central School.  Today we pulled the Hawaiian gear from the back of our closets and are dreaming of lounging on the beaches of Hawaii!  We also have "Anything but a backpack" day witch prompted one student to bring his entire dresser:)  He should have everything handy for his classes.

Thursday, September 29th the VB girls will be back in action vs JVS at SC.  Games will begin at 4:30 starting with 7th, 8th, JV and V

Friday 9/30 game in Springs @ 7pm v. Mobridge-Polluck
Senior Night for Blackhawk football will be this Friday. 
At 6:50 pm with 5 minutes remaining on scoreboard we will announce Seniors and their parents.   When announced we ask players and parents to walk out to the #50 on the field to be recognized.

Due to the 5th and 6th grade basketball season getting under way, 7-12 vb will all practice at Woonsocket while the basketball teams will be in Sanborn.

FAFSA Night 2022 Ms. Fisher and I, along with Megan Huber from the Mitchell Technical College Financial Aid Department, are hosting a FAFSA (free application for federal student aid) night on Monday, October 3rd at 5:30 pm at Sanborn Central school in the Middle School Lab. The FAFSA is the form that students fill out to apply for grants and loans to help pay for tuition and fees when attending college. Colleges typically require the FAFSA form to be completed in order to determine a student's federal aid eligibility. Additionally, if applying for the Build Dakota Scholarship it is a requirement to have the FAFSA completed. 

All seniors from Sanborn Central and Woonsocket, along with their parents/guardians, are invited to attend this event. This event will consist of explaining the step-by-step process to completing the FAFSA for any college or technical school as well as other information for paying for college.  Although we do not fill out the FAFSA at the event, you will receive detailed instructions for when/if you decide to fill out the form at home. The FAFSA opens up on October 1st and is typically open until the end of June.

Student Opportunities:

ACT Math Test Prep Sessions: Katie Jackson from Wessington Springs has extended the invite to our students to participate in ACT math test prep sessions. The cost is $250 for 6 sessions. Please see Ms. Amundson if interested in this opportunity or email katiejackson7@gmail.com with any questions regarding this opportunity.

Seniors - The last day to sign up for the October 22nd ACT is this Friday, September 16 to avoid late fees.

The juniors will be taking the ASVAB assessment on Wednesday, October 5th at 8:15 AM in the middle school lab.

The seniors will be taking the NCRC assessment on Wednesday, October 12th at 8:15 AM in the middle school lab.
I will be coming into the classrooms to discuss these assessments with the juniors and seniors to inform them about what to bring and what to expect.
Additionally, Libby Flemming from the National Guards will be at our school on Monday, October 10th at 8:15 AM and would like to briefly speak with all juniors and seniors to discuss the National Guards and opportunities for students. This will be held in the middle school lab.
