My name is Tyler Reddington and I am a business student at the University of South Dakota. I am also an executive officer for a student led organization called Beacom Billionaire Weekend that plans a fun, exciting, and educational event for prospective business students. The event gives students the chance to learn about the University and the Beacom School of Business while winning great prizes, watching a football game, and meeting some awesome people (including professors and current students)! This event is completely free and is a great chance to introduce students to their options after high school. Being a prospective student a few years ago and attending many college recruiting events, I wish I would have had the opportunity to be a part of such a great thing! The event is held next fall on on November 8th and 9th (housing provided) and a brochure is in the hall way.

31 years is the length of time that Ms. McClane has been at Sanborn Central.  She loves coming to work each day to be around the students and staff.  No two days are ever alike.  Ms. McClane’s dad, a former custodian of the district, convinced her to become a speech therapist.  She says it just goes to show that your parents really do know what they are talking about!  When she isn’t at school Ms. McClane enjoys playing the piano, reading books, and collecting antiques.  Ms. McClane has been fortunate enough to travel to both the east coast and the west coast but we are so glad that you decided to settle in at Sanborn Central.

There will be U6 & U8 Soccer Practice and Parent Meeting at Sanborn Central Saturday at 8:30 am.  If there is any pre-k through 2nd graders that are still interested in playing soccer, but didn’t get registered they are more than welcome to play, just contact Roxann Larson at 770-2077!

Reminder:  The Sanborn Central School Board will accept sealed bids for a 1994 International 48-passenger school bus with an appraised value of $499.00.  All usable school bus equipment will be gone and the current tires will be replaced with used ones. Sealed bids will be accepted weekdays from 8:00am to 4:00pm at the office of the Business Manager at the Sanborn Central School.  Bids will be opened at the regular school board meeting on April 14, 2014 that begins at 5:00pm in the Conference Room.

A 30 year teacher at Sanborn Central is Mrs. Whitney.  She graduated from Madison High School and received her BS from Northern, her MEd from SDSU, and her EdS from USD.  Her dad was a teacher and a superintendent plus several teachers encouraged her along the way to go into education.  She enjoys seeing the students and watching as they grow and learn.  Mrs. Whitney majored in trombone at college.  She was able to travel to London and Paris with the NSU Stage Band the summer after her 3rd year of college.  She used to play piano and trombone in a dance band called the “Tommy Matthews Band”.  Mrs. Whitney, thank you for devoting so much of your career and talent to Sanborn Central.

No Dodge Ball Tournament at Plank on Sunday.
