Graduation Ceremonies will be held a bit differently this year with the current state of our society.  On May 30th, at 4 pm, the 2020 graduates will, in front of their parents and siblings in person, and streamed live for all others, receive their diplomas in the gym at the school.  Please tune in to https://youtube.com/watch?v=d0Q31faRt-s to view the ceremony.  This year, the 8th grade students will not be a part of the ceremony due to the concerns and regulations regarding COVID-19.   Following the presentation of diplomas, the 2020 Graduates will be lined up in front of the school at approximately 4:30 pm where anyone who would like to drive-thru can wish them well, and perhaps even give them a card/gift in a basket that will be on the sidewalk in front of each graduate.

Last Days of School

Attention all SC Families-

The end of this unusual school year is upon us!  It has been a roller coaster ride to say the least, but through it all you have remained positive and done what was needed to get to this point.  I want to thank all the parents, teachers and students for all the efforts made to finish the school year on a high note.

The procedure for material turn in will be as follows:

Families whose name begin with A - N will be turning in all school-owned materials and picking up their student's belongs as well as the last set of lunches on Monday, May 18th between 8am and 12 pm.  You will come in the east entrance, and in the commons area there will be tables with each class labeled.  Each student will place their materials in the designated spot for it on those tables, and pick up their lunches on the way out.  Families whose names begin with the letter M - Z will go through the same procedure on Tuesday, May 19th, between 8am and 12 pm.  Along with the drop off an pick up, students who will be in high school next year (9th -12th grade) will need to pre-register for their classes.  There will be a table with a designated are for students to grab 2 copies to fill out (one for them and one to leave for the school).  Once this is complete, you are on summer break!

If there are issues with the times for your drop off or you have any other questions, please feel free to email Mr. Siemsen (justin.siemsen@ k12.sd.us) or Mrs. Vermeulen (connie.vermeulen@k12.sd.us) or call the school, 495-4183.

I wish you all a safe and "NORMAL" summer... or at least as normal as it can be!

Sincerely,

Justin Siemsen
Superintendent/HS Principal

Information on the coming weeks from Mr Siemsen
Sanborn Central Families:

As we start winding down the school year, I want to say thank you to all our parents, teachers and of course our students on all the hard work and effort that has been put towards this last quarter of school.  You all have made the best of a difficult situation, which has been awesome to see.  The end of this year has been so different that what we would like or expect it to be.  However, we do still have a little bit of time to finish it strong.

The schedule for the remaining couple of weeks will be as follows:

Monday, May 4th - Pick-up/hand in materials and lunches, following the same patterns as the previous weeks.

This week will be the same as the rest of the quarter has been school-wise.  The difference will be at the end of the week.  All assignments will be due by Friday, May 8th.  Nothing new will be assigned after Friday.  So what does this mean for the students?  It means that the students will have until the scheduled end date of the school year, Tuesday, May 19th, to get all of their remaining work in to receive credit.  If a student has all their work completed by May 8th, then they have sufficiently completed their school year.  If not, they will have the remaining week to make sure they have gotten all their work in to their teachers.  If you have any questions about this, please contact Mrs. Vermeulen or Mr. Siemsen.

Monday, May 11 - pick up/hand in materials and lunches following the same patterns as the previous weeks

This week, as stated above, is considered to be the "Catch-Up" week.  Students with assignments that need to be turned in have until May 19th to get those in.

Monday, May 18 - pick up/hand in materials and lunches:  Families with the last name beginning with A - M will come and drop off all the school-owned materials and pick up any of their personal items they may have left.

Tuesday, May 19 - pick up/hand in materials and lunches:  Families with the last name beginning with N - Z will come and drop off all the school-owned materials and pick up any of their personal items they may have left.

During both days, tables will be set up in the gym with each grade level labeled on them.  You will be asked to bring your items in and place them on the tables your student(s) belong to.  If you do not wish to come in, someone will be able to get the materials from you and take them in.  Again, if you have any questions please contact the school.

Thanks again for all you have done through this difficult time.  If there are any changes or updates to this schedule, they will be made available in the blog, on the school's website and Facebook page.
