Events for the day
The SC E-Sports Rocket League team finished pool play at 1-2. In the best of three format, they defeated Canistota 2-1, lost to St. Francis 1-2, & lost to defending champs Dakota Valley 0-2. Ian Octavo, Clay Moody, & Owen Moran did great. Jason Moran was ready to fill in when needed, and Coach Bodden was always encouraging.
The E-Sports platform is still new, but I cannot express how impactful this event is. The passion and teamwork necessary to find success does not differ from other sports. Participants wear their school colors with pride and cheer on other teammates. It matters to them.
Don't they just play games? Yes, but it is so much more than that. Many students at these events don't get the opportunity to represent their school in activities, and it is easy to see the pride they take in doing so.
When Ian made a miraculous OT shot to seal our first victory, I think I became more enthusiastically animated than in 15 years of coaching football.
This is beneficial to schools and glad we provide this opportunity. - Corey Flatten
