Thursday, October 13th-Orange Day

The following students will be attending the All-State Choir Prep Day at South Dakota State University today
Cami Edwards, Aubrey Moody, Payton Uecker, Evan Easton, Tori Hoffman, Grant Edwards, Parker Ettswold, Miley Adams, and Temperance Salathe.
The bus will leave Woonsocket at 6:45 am and Sanborn Central at 7:00 am and will be returning at approximately 4:30 pm.  Students should bring music folders, water bottles, and money for lunch.

We will run eligibility today.

The VB ladies will be at Kimball today.  Junior high volleyball begins at 4:30, followed by C, JV and V at Kimball.
The bus will leave Sanborn Central at 2:50 and Woonsocket at 3

Grades 5 and 6 will have basketball games @ SC today vs. JVC

Today FB practice will be in Wessington Springs 4pm -615pm

The Regional Cross Country Meet will take place today in Vermillion.
The bus will Woonsocket at 9:00 and pick up in Sanborn at 9:15.  

Free, online tutoring available for K-12 students. South Dakota students and families can access a new, online tutoring program, staffed by college students who are preparing to become teachers. The Dakota Dreams Online Tutoring Program offers FREE online tutoring to K-12 students across the state. One-on-one tutoring sessions can help students with their homework, tackle specific trouble areas, and address broader educational concepts. More information specifically for teachers will be available in coming days. Please note: In order to access the service, parents or guardians must register their students, not the school.

PROGRAM BASICS

  • The program is staffed by university students accepted into their Schools of Education at Black Hills State University and Northern State University.
  • It utilizes a simple and secure online platform, where students and tutors connect for virtual sessions. The platform is a one-stop shop for scheduling and conducting sessions.
  • Subject areas include: English/language arts, math, science, social studies.
  • Tutors will be available Monday through Sunday afternoons and evenings. The service will not be available on holidays and during Christmas and spring breaks.
  • In order to access this free service, parents first need to register their students to use the platform. Once registered, sessions can either be pre-scheduled or on-demand, depending on tutor availability.
  • The program is a joint effort of the South Dakota Board of Regents and Department of Education – administered by BOR and funded with federal dollars available to DOE through the American Rescue Plan.

8th-10th Grade Parents,

Notes from Ms. Amundson
The College Access Campaign has begun! This allows students to apply to most colleges in South Dakota for FREE! This campaign will go until November 30. 
The next ACT will be on Saturday, December 10. Make sure to register by November 4th to avoid late fees!

A representative from Lake Area Technical College will be here on Tuesday October 25 @8:15 AM to talk with prospective students.
On Thursday, October 27 Tom Fridley will be coming to our school to talk with middle school students about drugs and alcohol. We have been using the "Too Good for Drugs" curriculum so far this year, which seeks to prevent teen drug and alcohol use.

Tristan Jensen, a senior at Woonsocket is conducting a volleyball camp for all Kindergarten to 6th grade girls. The camp will be taking place on November 5th, 2022 in Woonsocket. Kindergarten- 3rd grade will be from 8:00 am- 10:00 am. 4th grade- 6th grade will be from 10:00 am - 12:00. The cost is $30 (includes a T-shirt). The rest of the funds will be donated.  Sign-up sheets are due back to the office today!

Third and 4th grade boys who are interested in playing basketball this year please contact Kim Eggleston at 605-461-8403.  If your son wants to play this year, please send a text that includes his name, both parents’ names and phone numbers.
