SANBORN CENTRAL E-NEWS
The JH Girls’ Basketball Tournament scheduled for
Saturday in Kimball has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled. Lezlie
Blasius, a member of the Kimball community and the Kimball School staff, has
passed away and funeral services will be held at the Kimball School on
Saturday.
Sanborn Central welcomes Cooper Goldammer to the 1st
Grade Class.

TODAY - WEDNESDAY:
Basketball practice: Girls at Sanborn Central, Boys at
Woonsocket

THURSDAY:
Basketball practice: 7th girls at Sanborn Central
Eligibility and Homework Club will be calculated on
Thursday.
There are double-header basketball games against
Corsica/Stickney at Corsica on Thursday. Since they have two gyms, both the JV
girls and JV boys will play at 5:00 p.m. The Varsity girls will then play in
the main gym, followed by the Varsity boys.
The charter bus will pick up players at Sanborn Central
at 3:20 p.m. and Woonsocket at 3:35 p.m.
The Corsica Track Committee is raising money to get
rubber placed on their track. They will be serving a soup and sandwich supper
on Thursday starting at 4:30 p.m. Cost is a free will donation. There will also
be a silent auction of various items.

FRIDAY:
Basketball practice: Girls at Sanborn Central, Boys at
Woonsocket
The JH girls and boys will be playing basketball against
Corsica/Stickney at Woonsocket on Friday night. The girls will play at 6:00
p.m. followed by the boys.
The JV girls and boys will be playing basketball at Mt.
Vernon on Friday night. The girls will play at 6:00 p.m. followed by the boys.

SATURDAY:
The JH boys will be playing in a CBH Basketball
Tournament in Plankinton on Saturday morning. The tournament starts at 9:00
a.m. SCW will be playing Corsica/Stickney at 10:00 a.m. for their first game.

Wolsey-Wessington at Sanborn Central on Saturday. Game times are 2:00 - JV
Girls, 3:00 - JV Boys, 4:30 - Varsity Girls, 6:00 p.m. - Varsity Boys.
It will be Parent’s Night on Saturday. The girls and
their parents will be introduced prior to the Varsity girls’ game, and the boys
and their parents will be introduced prior to the Varsity boys’ game.

purchase something to present to their parents on Parent’s Night.
It’s Pink the Palace on Saturday at the Corn
Palace. The DWU Women’s and Men’s basketball teams will be playing at 4:00 and
6:00 p.m. Proceeds benefit the Mitchell Heart and Sole organization. They will
be selling luminaries, t-shirts and have a 50/50 raffle. You can also sign up
to volunteer the night of the walk and nominate someone to be one of the 2013
Honorary Co-Chairs.

MONDAY:
Basketball practice: Boys at Sanborn Central
The Lady Blackhawks have basketball games against Emery/Bridgewater
on Monday night at Woonsocket. The JV girls will play at 6:15 p.m. and the
Varsity girls when they’re finished.
The Pep Band is scheduled to play on Monday night.

TUESDAY:
Basketball practice: 7th girls at Sanborn Central
The Blackhawks have double-header basketball games at
Iroquois on Tuesday. Games start at 4:00 p.m. in the following order: JV Girls,
JV Boys, Varsity Girls, Varsity Boys.

REMINDERS:
There are a couple of camps this summer that students
might be interested in. The South Dakota Highway Patrol and the American Legion
of South Dakota are sponsoring a Youth Trooper Academy for those interested in
a career in law enforcement. The camp is in Pierre from Monday, June 24 through
Friday, June 28. Application deadline is April 5. An application can be found
in the school office or by visiting http://www.sdlegion.org/trooperinfo.htm.
South Dakota State University and Avera are sponsoring a Health Professions
Career Camp at SDSU in Brookings July 16-19 for students interested in
health-related professions. Registration information can be found in the school
office or at www.sdstate.edu/nurs/outreach/health-camp.
The Way Station in Woonsocket will deliver valentine
specials to students for free on Valentine’s Day if ordered before February 14.
The basic special is a 9” air-filled valentine balloon attached to a box of
assorted candy with a bow for $7.50. Add a 10” bear for $8.25 or a 15” bear for
$13.50. They also have candy bouquets, mylar balloons and fresh flowers. Give
them a call at 605-796-4348 to customize your order. Delivery is also available
to all surrounding areas, or you can pick up your order yourself at the Way
Station.
Logan Moody’s February Caring Project is to send
valentines to the Veteran’s Hospital and local nursing homes. Elementary
students will be making valentines. If you would care to donate for postage or
make some valentines, please contact Mary at mary.ackman@k12.sd.us.
WANTED: Sanborn Central is in need of someone to organize
and supervise the spring soccer league for our students. The league is
Woonsocket, Wessington Springs, and Sanborn Central. It involves lining up
coaches for each age group and coaching/supervising all the practices and

be interested. The pay is $800 for the season.
