SCHOOL BOARD MEETING SYNOPSIS:
Mrs. Whitney has provided the following synopsis from
yesterday’s January School Board meeting:
Approved the agenda, December 10, 2012 regular board
minutes, bills and financial report.
Mrs. Whitney reported on the Legislature beginning on
Tuesday, January 8 and that it is in the budget for a 3% increase to the base
funding. She shared a chart with the
board that SDSSA has developed that shows we are way behind where we should be
according to statute after the budget cuts in 2010. She will keep the board and the patrons
posted throughout the session. Terry
Campbell from Tessier’s will come to the February board meeting to give
information about their proposal for air conditioning in the classrooms.
Mrs. Whitney gave the school board members a copy of a certificate from ASBSD in
recognition of School Board Recognition Week (January 14 – 18) and thanked them
for all of their hard work and dedication to the district. The board congratulated Joyce Everhart for
completing and receiving approval so that our meals are now certified.
Set the school board election for June 18, 2013 at
Sanborn Central and appointed Joanne Nelson, Zelma Kneen and Janet Maeschen as
election officials with Shirley Northrup or Judy Wormstadt as alternates. NOTE:
Kathy Austerman was appointed to serve until election so that position
is for a two-year term and Murray VanLaecken’s term will expire on June 30,
2013.
Executive was held to discuss personnel from 4:28 – 4:57.
Adjourned at 4:58pm.
Next scheduled regular board meeting will be at 7:00 pm
in the conference room on Tuesday, February 12, 2013.
