SANBORN CENTRAL E-NEWS
Today is Student Day (and Pajama Day) for National
Education Week. Students are the reason for Sanborn Central. They fill the
school days with laughter, challenges and worth. Sanborn Central is very proud
of the quality of students that they have.

FRIDAY:
Staff and students will be enjoying a Thanksgiving Dinner
today.

SATURDAY:
The Letcher Jr. CYU will be hosting their annual bowling
party at the Village Bowl in Mitchell on Saturday from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. All
students in Grades 5-8 are invited to attend. Participants will be provided
with 2 games of bowling, pop and pizza. Please contact Tracy Moody if a ride is
needed, otherwise they’ll see you there!

MONDAY:
Band food will arrive on Monday afternoon. Band students
will be dismissed at 3:00 p.m. to pick their orders up.
Girls’ basketball practice begins around the state on
Monday. The Lady Blackhawks will practice in Woonsocket on Monday.
Boys will have Open Gym after school on Monday at Sanborn
Central.
There will be cheer practice at Sanborn Central on Monday
at 5:45 p.m.
There will be a girls’ basketball parent meeting on
Monday at 6:00 p.m. in Woonsocket. This is for all parents of girls’ basketball
players in grades 7-12.

TUESDAY:
Marching band students will be bussed over to Woonsocket
on Tuesday morning for concert practice.
The Sanborn Central Q107 Quiz Bowl team will be competing
against Wagner on Tuesday. The podcast will be available on Wednesday.
Girls’ basketball practice for Tuesday has been moved to
Sanborn Central.
There will be cheer practice at Sanborn Central on
Tuesday at 3:45 p.m.
There will be a Lasagna Supper and Indoor Marching Band
Concert on Tuesday at the Woonsocket School. Band parents (grades 7-12) will be
serving a lasagna supper (lasagna, salad, bread sticks and dessert) from 5:30
to 6:30 p.m. The indoor marching band concert (grades 7-12) will begin at 7:00
p.m. Free will donations will be accepted ($5 suggested per meal). Money raised
will be used towards the purchase of new percussion equipment. Everyone in the
community is invited to attend.

For Sanborn
Central band students (Grades 7-12), families are asked to send the following
to school with their student on Tuesday morning (one item per family, not per
student) according to their last name:
A-M: Dessert
(suggested is bars)
N-W: 9” x 13”
pan of Lasagna (please use recipe found in letter linked above)
Marching band participants will be wearing their white
band polo shirts and jeans for the performance.

WEDNESDAY:
Grades 5-8 will have Declam on Wednesday morning starting
at 8:30 a.m.
School will dismiss early on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. for
Thanksgiving Break.

at 1:30 p.m.

Sanborn Central.

REMINDERS:
Dakota Wesleyan is again offering qualified high school
juniors and seniors an opportunity to enroll in the following online courses
for the Spring 2013 semester: Medical Terminology; Fundamentals of Speech
Communication; and Introduction to Sociology. Classes begin January 7, 2013.
These courses will be offered online and the student will receive credit
through Dakota Wesleyan University upon successful completion of the course.
Registration begins November 19, 2012. Additional information is available from

The South Dakota Bankers Association and the Governor’s
Office of Economic Development are sponsoring a 2013 Business Plan Competition
for high school students. Prizes include iPads and cash. The deadline for
submission of a complete business plan is December 14, 2012. Rules and entry

Santa’s Last Stop Vendor Show will be held on Saturday,
December 1 at the Letcher Community Center and Fire Hall from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00
p.m. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be making a stop from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Send your kids to shop for family gifts with help from the Town ‘N Kountry Kids
4-H Club from 9:00 a.m. to noon. The Storla-Trinity Youth Group will have
concessions throughout the day. Vendors can contact Amanda Chada at mamchada@santel.net or 605-248-2407 to
secure a spot. The vendor fee will be $25/table and will go towards future
projects through the Letcher Community Development Foundation.
