SANBORN CENTRAL E-NEWS
Today is Administration Day for National Education Week.
Please take a moment to reflect on how our administrators spend each and every
day (including sleepless nights) seeing that the students and staff have nothing
but the best at Sanborn Central. Thanks to Mrs. Whitney, Mrs. Vermeulen and
Gayle Bechen.
Schedule Change: Due to the marching band concert and
feed starting at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 20 in Woonsocket, girls’ basketball
practice that day will be at Sanborn Central.
Santa’s Last Stop Vendor Show will be held on Saturday,
December 1 at the Letcher Community Center and Fire Hall from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00
p.m. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be making a stop from 9:00 a.m. until noon.
Send your kids to shop for family gifts with help from the Town ‘N Kountry Kids
4-H Club from 9:00 a.m. to noon. The Storla-Trinity Youth Group will have
concessions throughout the day. Vendors can contact Amanda Chada at mamchada@santel.net or 605-248-2407 to secure
a spot. The vendor fee will be $25/table and will go towards future projects
through the Letcher Community Development Foundation.

TODAY - TUESDAY:
Coborn’s receipts for August, September and October are
due to the school by today. They can also be left at CorTrust Bank in Artesian
or Letcher.
The Region Oral Interp Contest is today at DWU in
Mitchell.
There will be a meeting this afternoon for football
players.
Middle School students will have their Student of the
Month assembly this afternoon.
Basketball cheerleaders will practice in Woonsocket after
school today at 3:40 p.m.
There will be Open Gym for girls at Woonsocket and for
boys at Sanborn Central after school today.
The 7/8th boys will have basketball practice after school
at Sanborn Central today.

WEDNESDAY:
Wednesday is Support Staff Day for National Education
Week.
FFA members need to turn in their fruit sales order forms
and money by Wednesday at the latest. If Mr. Gross is not at school, packets
should be turned in to Gayle.
There will be Open Gym for girls at Woonsocket after
school on Wednesday.

THURSDAY:
Thursday is Teacher Day for National Education Week.
Eligibility and Homework Club will be calculated on
Thursday.
There will be Open Gym for boys at Sanborn Central after
school on Thursday.
The 7/8th boys will have basketball practice after school
at Sanborn Central on Thursday.
There will be a Winter Drumline audition practice session
on Thursday at Sanborn Central from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. This practice is not
mandatory, but is set up to answer any questions students may have about the
Winter Drumline audition practice.
The State Volleyball Tournaments are on Thursday, Friday
and Saturday. Class B is being held at the Corn Palace in Mitchell; Class A is
at the Watertown Civic Arena in Watertown; and Class AA is being held at
Central High School in Rapid City.

FRIDAY:
Friday is Student Day (and Pajama Day) for National
Education Week.

MONDAY:
Girls’ basketball practice begins around the state on
Monday. The Lady Blackhawks will practice in Woonsocket on Monday.

SCHOOL BOARD
MEETING SYNOPSIS:
Mrs. Whitney has
provided the following synopsis of last night’s school board meeting:
Approved the agenda, October 8 regular school board
minutes, bills, and financial report.
Lincoln Feistner from Central Electric met with the board
to go over the proposal to install mini-split air conditioning units. The board asked questions and will discuss
further and possibly make a decision at the December board meeting. The board thanked Lincoln for attending the
meeting.
Mrs. Whitney’s report included the following: GBB practice
will start on November 19 and BBB practice starts on November 26; two new
students starting on October 22, a 9th and a 6th grader; summary of meeting
between head football coach Jason Kolousek and the AD’s from all three schools;
long-term sub, Jenny Easton, will be at SC and Woonsocket for Gwen Senska who
will be out on sick leave for a few weeks; and that Masey Pechholt has
submitted her resignation as Co-Head Volleyball Coach and the board will
formally act on it at the December meeting.
Mrs. Vermeulen reported on the following: the new student
in 6th grade; grades 5-8 declam on November 21; MS honor roll percentages;
Rebel Booster Club distributing special t-shirts to all students in grades 6-12
who achieved “A” honor roll status (students have 3 more quarters to achieve
that goal and receive a t-shirt); grades 5&6 basketball has come to an end;
7/8 GBB earned first place win at the Hanson tournament this past weekend; and
the 7/8 BBB will participate in a Hanson BB tournament on December 1.
Approved the long-term substitute pay as follows: 1st of 5 days of continuous subbing = $80/day
with a teacher’s certificate. The 6th
day and on = $100/day with a teacher’s certificate.
Executive session for personnel from 7:41 – 8:12.

Next meeting will be Monday, December 10, 2011 at 7:00pm
in the Conference Room.
