SANBORN CENTRAL E-NEWS
 
There will be another order for Blackhawk basketball shirts put in. They need to be ordered by 8:00 a.m. on Thursday morning at the absolute latest. Also, if someone would like to exchange their shirt for a different size, now would be the time to do it by the same deadline. From Rachelle Moore: For my senior project, I am hosting a 7th/8th Grade Girls Basketball Tournament on Saturday, January 19 starting at 10:00 a.m. All funds raised will be donated to Cure Kids Cancer out of the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls.  I am in need of volunteers to take admission, be scorekeepers, refs, etc.  There will be 4 games and a BBQ meal. I am also looking for anybody who is interested in donating baked items for the bake sale.  Please email me if you are able to volunteer at rachellemoore-b-r@hotmail.com.  I also want to thank everybody for the help and the support thus far! Thank You!
 
REMINDER: Boys’ games will be played first on Tuesday night against Kimball/White Lake at Woonsocket. The schedule is 4:00 p.m. – JV boys; 5:00 p.m. – JV girls; 6:30 p.m. – Varsity boys; 8:00 p.m. – Varsity girls.
 
The Blackhawks had basketball games against Mt. Vernon/Plankinton at Plankinton on Saturday.
 
The JH boys won, 32-25. Quarter scores were SCW-MVP 12-12, 20-14, 26-19, 32-25. Leading the attack for the Blackhawks were: Wyatt Feistner - 12 points, 10 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 assist; Logun Feistner - 9 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 assist; Trey Weber - 5 points, 1 rebound, 2 steals, 2 assists; Trent Kingsbury - 4 points, 5 rebounds, 1 steal, 2 assists; Trevor Olson - 2 points, 2 steals, 4 assists.  In the extra quarter: Shaun Snedeker - 6 points, 3 rebounds; Garrett Dean - 1 steal, 5 assists; Jared Goldammer - 4 points, 1 steal,1 assist; Koby Larson - 2 points; Devon Weber - 2 points, 1 rebound; and  Nathan Linke - 1 rebound.
 
The JH girls lost by 2 points. No other stats were available.
 
The JV boys won, 56-36. Leading scorers: Dillon Moore – 15, Jarid Bechen – 10, Brady Tiede – 8, Joe Davis – 7.
 
The Varsity girls won, 69-26. Leaders: Shelby Selland – 16 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals; Marissa Weber – 11 points, 3 assists; Rachel Selland – 11 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 5 steals; Morgan Selland – 10 points; Myah Selland – 9 points, 9 rebounds, 4 steals; and Rachelle Moore – 8 points, 3 assists, 3 steals.
 
The Varsity boys won in overtime, 58-55. Nick Miller had 21 points, Davion Brooks had 13 points and 6 rebounds, Todd Stekl had 10 points and 6 assists, Jaedyn Ford had 6 points, Drew Hinker had 4 points, and Tyler Krueger and Tucker Kingsbury each had 2 points. The Blackhawks were 20 of 54 (37%) from the field and 14 of 17 (82%) from the free throw line.
 
The pairings for the Girls Hanson Classic on Saturday have been announced. The Lady Blackhawks will be playing the last game of the day against Warner at approximately 8:30 p.m. (all game times are approximate).

The Corn Palace is offering a limited number of advanced reserved tickets for both the girls and boys classics. These tickets are court side front row tickets and will be available on a first come first serve basis. The tickets are good for all 8 games to be played on each day. Anyone interested in purchase these tickets should contact the Corn Palace Ticket Office at 605-995-8430.

The JH girls and boys have basketball games at Kimball tonight. The JH girls will play at 6:00 p.m. and the JH boys at approximately 7:00 p.m.

The Blackhawks have double-header basketball games on Tuesday against Kimball/White Lake at Woonsocket. The boys will be playing first.

Woonsocket’s Post Prom Committee will be selling BBQs, chips, pop/water and a bar for $5.00/meal during the games.
 
Friends of the Library will be having a Used Book Sale in the Woonsocket School Commons on Tuesday during the basketball games.
 
The 7th grade girls will have basketball practice after school on Tuesday at Sanborn Central.

The Sanborn Central School Board will be having their January meeting on Thursday at 4:00 p.m.
 
The boys have basketball games on Thursday against James Valley Christian at Sanborn Central. The JH boys will play at 5:15 p.m., the JV boys at 6:30 p.m., and the Varsity boys when they’re finished.
 
Booster Club concession stand workers for Thursday are Curtis and Sara Adams, Justin and Lori Dean, and Rod and Jane Marten.
 
The pep band is scheduled to play on Thursday night.
 
The Junior Class will be selling root beer floats during the games on Thursday night.

REMINDERS:
 
The Glass Slipper event will once again be held at the First United Methodist Church in Mitchell the second weekend in February, 2013. They are taking donated prom dresses, jewelry and shoes for girls who are in need of prom dresses for this school year. If you would like to donate prom dresses, jewelry or shoes, they can be dropped off with Mary in the Sanborn Central School office and she will make sure they get to the Glass Slipper event. Donations may also be dropped off at the church office at 310 N. Rowley in Mitchell, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
