Lunch Program News:
It Takes a Team to Feed a Blackhawk!
Yesterday, we followed our food from the farm to our school lunch trays. Today, we're looking at the people who make it all happen!
It takes more than just one person to get a meal on the table. Farmers and ranchers grow and raise our food; processors prepare it, truck drivers and distributors deliver it, and our school's kitchen crew turns those ingredients into meals for our Blackhawks.
Every one of these jobs plays an important role!
Today's Blackhawk Challenge
At dinner tonight, pick one food on your plate and see how many different people or jobs your family can name that helped get it there.
Do you know someone right here in our community who helps produce, transport, or prepare our food?
Living in South Dakota, we're surrounded by people who play a part in agriculture, and it's a great opportunity to help our students recognize their contributions!
Coming Tomorrow...
Have you ever wondered why some fruits and vegetables are easier to find at certain times of the year? We'll take a look at that tomorrow!

Monday, November 9th - FAFSA Night at 7:00 PM in Mrs. Gassman's room
Join Mrs. L Gassman for FAFSA Night on Monday, November 9th at 7PM in Mrs. Gassman's room. Learn about what FAFSA is and how FAFSA can help provide grants, work-study, federal student loans and state & college based aid.
Reminder that all juniors and seniors have 2 excused absences for college/career exploration each year! I really encourage them to go on college tours and to go job shadowing. However, they need to be responsible and get their assignments ahead of time and have their parents/guardians call in their absence.
On January 11th and 12th we will be having internet safety presentations for grades PreK-12. These will be by each grade level, so they are age appropriate. There will also be a parent session on the evening of January 11th. More information to come later regarding this.
