Blue Day
Everyday there are accomplishments or satisfying moments that give you a reason to be thankful for. Today we are thankful for a very special family in our school that has shined a positive light on foster care and what it means to be a important family to so many in need! Congratulations Lady Blackhawks on a FANtastic win last night (49-46 over Hanson)!!!! Leaders were Megan Poyer 13 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals; Trista White 13 points and 6 rebounds; Tesa Jensen 8 points; Abby Vermeulen 6 points; Trinity Boschee 6 points and 6 rebounds; and Kaylee White with 3 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. 2/28 we will play DeSmet in the Sweet 16!!!!
Good Luck to the guys as Springs is coming to SC today. Due to the weather the game times have been moved up - 3:15 will find the JH guys on the floor followed by JV and Varsity. Ticket takers are Sevareid and Moody. The pep band is scheduled to play tonight also.
Blue and Gold shines bright at SC to wrap up FFA week. The Ag Olympics are coming to SC and opening ceremonies will start at 2:00!

February 25th-March 1 grades K-12 will be having a penny war. If you are not familiar with how this works pennies are positive, nickles, dimes, quarters and dollars are negative. The goal is to be the class that earns the most money to earn a pizza party on March 4th. Proceeds will go toward the Jr. prom fundraiser.

You will be leaving here at approximately 8:00am. Please bring money for your own lunch!
Applications for teacher of the year are due by February 28th. Is there a teacher who you believe deserves to be named Teacher of the year? Forms are available in the office.
Just a reminder that Legion/Auxiliary Essays (grades 3-12) and Poems (grades 3-6) are due March 1st. Poppy Posters are due March 30th.

February 23rd the boys and girls Junior High will compete in the "Big Slam Tourney" in Iroquois. The boys will begin at 9:00 AM in the South gym followed by the girls at 12:20 PM 1:00 PM in the South gym (Please note this change). Both teams will play JVC.

MUSIC
In order for Sanborn Central and Woonsocket 8-12 band students to rehearse together in preparation for Region 5 Large Group Contest, I have planned some rehearsals outside of our normal class period. For your planning purposes, below are the dates to be aware of:
Monday, March 4th – dismissed to Sanborn Central music room at 9:45, returning to class around 10:45am
Tuesday, March 19th - time TBD, rehearsal @ Woonsocket
Wednesday, March 20th – Large Group Contest, students will be gone majority of the school day

Updated information from Miss Ronning...For those who plan on attending the Howard CDE on March 13th and Miller CDE on March 20th - Miss. Ronning needs a commitment from you by Tuesday, February 26th at 3:00 pm. IF you are unable to attend or are ineligible that week, you will need to repay the chapter registration fees for the contest. Sign up in Miss. Ronning's classroom or by e-mailing her/messaging on Remind.
COMMUNITY
The Wessington Springs chapters of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is hosting a 3-on-3 Tournament on Saturday, March 2nd to raise money for the community summer recreation program. Good Luck to our District KC Hoop contestants: McKenzie Uecker, Eli White, Addyson Baruth, Samuel Baruth, Jaycee Baruth, Evan Easton, and Trista White. The District competition will be held Sunday, Feb. 24th starting at 1:00 pm at the Huron Middle School Gym. The gym will open at noon for warm ups. Enter through the Nordby Center west doors.
