 In observance of Veterans Day Sanborn Central will not have school on Friday, November 11th.  We will be back in secession Monday, November 14th.

Sanborn Central Student Council would like to honor our community Veterans on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at 9:00AM at Sanborn Central School.

Please join the Sanborn Central School on Wednesday, November 16^th to celebrate the community.  All friends, family, and community members of Sanborn Central students are welcome to come for Cookies and Connecting with Kids at 2:45pm in the Commons/Gym at Sanborn Central.

Parents..the office is in need of ice cream buckets.  If you have extra's to spare it is appreciated.

Save the date-The Christmas Concert will take place on Tuesday, December 6th at 6:30

The Yearbook staff will have a meeting in Ms. Farrell-Poncelet's room at lunch on Thursday, November 10. Please grab your lunch and come into the classroom. 

The playground is in need of equipment.  Please help us in a fundraiser partnered with Tiffany Hoffman, Independent Tupperware Consultant.  This fundraiser is underway and will end Wednesday, November 16th-NO exceptions.  Funds will be used to update playground, support field trips, and carry out other special projects to benefit Sanborn Central Elementary students.  All orders should arrive approximately 2-4 weeks after orders are finalized.  Please e-mail Laura at laura.licht@k12.sd.us if you are interested in placing an order.

The girls 7th/8^th basketball practice for this Friday 11/11 has been cancelled.  On Saturday, Please have your girls to the gym at Hanson School by 8:30am. Anyone that needs a ride please let your coach know

Seventh and eighth grade girls will be participating in the Hanson Early Bird JH tournament on Saturday November 12^th at Hanson School. We have participated in this tournament for many years.  I know the Cancer Tournament will be the same day as is always the case.  We will be sure to have rides for any of the girls in case you are unable to attend the JH tourney. 
We will have 7/8 girls bb practice next week in preparation of the JH tourney at Hanson Nov. 12.  A letter is going home with the girls today.

2022 Hanson JH Girls B-Ball Tourney
They will be using the main gym at the main street auditorium
Admission prices for the tourney are as follows: 
Adults - $3.00 
Students - $2.00

The JH music fest will be in Platte on Tuesday, November 15th.  The concert will start at 2:30 in Platte and the bus will leave SC at 6:25 AM from SC.  The bus will depart from Sanborn Central at 6:25 am. Depart Woonsocket at 6:40 am. Return approximately 5:00 pm.  There is a free public concert at the Platte Armory at 2:30 pm.  All are welcome.  Students bring music folders & pencil, water bottle, extra money in case we stop.

Notes from Ms. Amundson

Upcoming College Representative Visits:

Tomorrow (11/10) at around 11:45/12:00 PM in the Middle School Lab Theresa Haatvedt from the Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) will be coming to our school to promote the HRMC Youth Apprenticeship program. This program allows 11^th and 12^th graders the opportunity to become a certified nurse aide with the SD Dept of Nursing.  Southeast Technical College offers it at the Huron Community Campus in Huron beginning January through April.  They have it during the evening hours, so it accommodates for high school students. They are enrolling for the program now and the deadline is December 1^st

College Access Campaign:

Seniors have until November 30 to fill out college applications for FREE at participating colleges here in South Dakota. Please take advantage of this opportunity! College applications are online and can be found on each college's website. Each college and major/program have different deadlines for admission, so make sure to submit your application on time. Once you have submitted a college application, make sure to let Ms. Amundson know what colleges you have applied to so she can send them your transcript.
