Tuesday, February 8th-Blue Day

Both the boys and girls will be at Woonsocket this afternoon battling Iroquois on the court.  
Girls JV starts at 4PM followed by boys JV, girls Varsity and Boys Varsity.  Some extra entertainment will be provided by the Little Blackhawk Cheerleaders this evening.  The performance will be at HALFTIME of the Girls Varsity Game.  Please have your child there by 6:00.

If you have last minute bussing changes the bus drivers ask that you call the bus line at 605-495-4186.
This line rings directly into the busses and you are able to talk to your driver.  As always please try to plan ahead with your child's bussing and provide consistency to their bus schedule.

FFA Week will take place February 22-25th with dress up days and events.
Tuesday, February 22nd-Merica day-find an emblem, and answer a trivia question to win a treat.
Wednesday, February 23rd-Hunting day-FFA officers will be teaching the kids about FFA
Thursday, February 24th-Redneck day-Donuts for $1 (before school starts)
Friday, February 25th-Blue and gold ag Olympics

Extra Curricular
Come hungry to Friday's game at Highmore.  The summer rec. program will be having a walking taco supper as a free will donation.

A combined instrumental and ensemble contest is scheduled for February 16th at the Chamberlain HS.  Attached is the student names and performance times.  The bus will load SC at 7:00 and return at 4:30.

Jalyn's Cheer Team Updates

Yesterday was a day to LOVE!
*Happy tears post!*
We started yesterday off on a good note with a good CT report. They placed a PICC line for ease of giving meds/fluids as well as lab draws. She was able to ditch the ventilator, NG suction tube, and catheter by mid afternoon but saved up her energy to give the best surprise ever come bedtime.
We waited •22• (yes, 22!) loooooong days to hear her voice and last night was our lucky time! She didn’t just wake up, she woke up TALKING! She spoke sentences and even talked to Papa Tim on the phone. She tolerated a popsicle, applesauce, coke slush, and some mac and cheese for a midnight snack.
Her labs keep improving and we’re still waiting for culture results. For now, she is still on the two broad range antibiotics until we learn if there is a particular organism we can treat.
She has some upper airway inflammation from the ventilator so got a dose of steroids and a couple neb treatments last night. They say her lungs sound great, we just need to wait for the inflammation to go away. She’s been a little more sleepy and not as talkative today, but it’s understandable after the ride she’s been on.
We want to thank everyone again for all of the love, prayers, and support! We can’t help but believe the power of prayer and God’s grace are why we’re where we are today. THANK YOU!!

Dean of Students Announcement

The South Dakota State DAR Scholarship for Military Descendants is due Saturday, February 12. In order to apply for this scholarship, the student must be a high school senior in SD who plans to attend an instituition of higher learning and MUST be a child or grandchild of a United States Military Veteran.

ACT Prep Sessions:
Preparing for the ACT can be tough. Make it easy with DSU's 5 week long ACT Prep Course. These sessions will help you become more comfortable with the ACT test format, improve important test-taking strategies, and learn test content subject matter from faculty who specialize in the test material.

Scrubs Camp:
There will be a scrubs camp in Huron, SD on March 22, 2022. This camp is from 8:30-3:00 pm. Ms. Amundson has the registration forms for students who are interested in attending. Forms are due by March, 15, 2022.

LATC: 
2/8/22: Last day to pay tuition & fees. (Students can pay anytime between January 10-February 9. Online payment is available through the portal or they can pay by calling 882-5284 Ext 298 with a credit card or mail a check.) 

Girls State & Boys State:
Ms. Amundson talked with the junior boys and girls, as well as the senior boys about Girls State and Boys State.  For Girls State, only juniors are able to apply. For Boys State, junior and senior boys are able to apply. For Girls State, the applications are due on Tuesday, March 1st. For Boys State, the applications are due on May 1st. Please let Ms. Amundson know if you have any questions about this opportunity.

Iroquois will be hosting a 3 on 3 basketball tournament Saturday, March 26th for anyone interested.  Entry fee is $40 per team and the deadline to enter is Monday, March 21st.
