Sanborn Central/Woonsocket overcame a seven-point deficit after three quarters to force overtime. The ladies ended up prevailing over James Valley Christian to break their six-game winning streak.
SCW (14-5): Liz Boschee led all scorers with 16 points, while Teya Moody added 13 points and five assists. Trinity Boschee had 11 points and three steals, as Trista White chipped in nine points, seven rebounds and five assists. Brooke Doering grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds and dished out five assists for the Blackhawks. Both the boys and girls will be back in action for the last regular season game on Thursday with a double header vs. Mitchell Christian at SC. Regions will begin February 22nd for the girls and March 1st for the boys. The boys will have an additional game vs. WS in Springs on Friday, February 25th.
Congratulations to the students that have been recognized for showing great character last week for a pillar of character counts. Jase Pearson shows fairness when playing out at recess by taking turns being "it." He also discusses and displays how to be fair in the classroom.
In the middle school, Miley Adams shows she is fair by taking turns in PW and showing good sportsmanship. In high school, Hannah Dickson exhibits fairness by treating people fair and listening to others carefully.
FFA Week will take place February 22-25th with dress up days and events.

A Huge thank you to all who came and joined in the festivities to support Jalyn and her family. Whether you had a soup supper, chucked a duck, bid on a few of the auction items or volunteered your time Thank You! We are defiantly blessed with the best community members. Your contributions last night have raised $5,816.02 and were not done! Please join us on Saturday, March 5 for a Bean Bag Tournament, Auctions and Supper in support of Jalyn Bender at the Stekl Shop near Letcher. Supper will start at 5:00 p.m. and the bean bag tournament will start about 6:30, with many fun events planned throughout the evening. Jalyn had a huge day! She unfortunately didn’t pass the swallow study so will continue on with thicker liquids. We were surprised this morning with news that we could move out of the PICU to a regular room since she was doing so well clinically. She stayed busy with PT, OT, PICC line dressing change and a nice (shoulders down) shower after the move.
We spent the evening cheering on the Blackhawks by watching the game on the iPad. We have no words. We are so overwhelmed with the outpouring of love and support showed by our entire “family” back home. It was so great to see so many blue shirts - the big waves from everyone was the icing on the cake! We cannot express our appreciation for everything you have all done! Thank you will never be enough!
We would like to put in a special request to send extra prayers for the family of one of our castle mates who gained her angel wings this morning. We have gotten to know them pretty well while we’ve been here and our hearts broke when they gave us the news.
No matter the situation, always love today!

Scrubs Camp:
There will be a scrubs camp in Huron, SD on March 22, 2022. This camp is from 8:30-3:00 pm. Ms. Amundson has the registration forms for students who are interested in attending. Forms are due by March, 15, 2022.
Girls State & Boys State:
Ms. Amundson talked with the junior boys and girls, as well as the senior boys about Girls State and Boys State. For Girls State, only juniors are able to apply. For Boys State, junior and senior boys are able to apply. For Girls State, the applications are due on Tuesday, March 1st. For Boys State, the applications are due on May 1st. Please let Ms. Amundson know if you have any questions about this opportunity.

Wednesday, February 23rd from 2-3 Reed Senska will be presenting her Senior project in the SC Gym. Come and see the work the students have put in over the past couple of months, and enjoy the fun.
Iroquois will be hosting a 3 on 3 basketball tournament Saturday, March 26th for anyone interested. Entry fee is $40 per team and the deadline to enter is Monday, March 21st.
Grades 3-9 are invited to partake in a spring basketball tourney April 9th. Cost is $100 per team with a three game guarantee. If you are interested please e-mail josh.davies@k12.sd.us
The Sanborn County 4-H Building in Forestburg has served the area well for many years, supporting 4-H as well as many community events. We are in exciting times as both growth in 4-H and needs from the school and community are demanding more space for activities.
