As many of you know, Gary Willman, one of our bus drivers, has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer. He is unable to drive bus while he goes for treatment. Many of you ordered a shirt in support of Gary (profits from the shirts went to Gary)....please wear your shirt this Friday in support of Gary.

Shake out those couch cushions-the Sanborn Central will be hosting a Penny War Fundraiser the week of October 11th.  Each grade and team, including staff will have a collection bag located in the office.  Gain points by adding pennies to your grade level's bag.  Lower other grades' totals by adding silver coins and bills to their bag.

A representative from the University of Minnesota Rochester will be coming here today to talk with any juniors and seniors that would like to learn more about this school and their available programs of study. The exact time is yet to be determined but will be in the afternoon.

Upcoming Announcements
Tutoring will be offered on an as-need basis on Tuesday's and Thursday's from 3:15-5:15 starting October 5th.  The cost will be $3 per hour.  If interested please call SC school (495-4183) before noon on the days your child will attend.

The 281 Conference VB Tournament will be held Saturday, October 2nd at the James Valley Christian School.  The bus will leave SC at 9:25 on Saturday.  SCW will play at the South Gym at 11:00 vs. Sunshine Bible.  The tournament will be on a rolling schedule.

The Sanborn Central/Woonsocket Blackhawk Volleyball Seniors are hosting a dig pink night on October 14 in the Woonsocket Gym.  If you would like to donate a silent auction/raffle item please have it at the Woonsocket school by October 13 or contact a Volleyball player.
If you are interested in a Dig Pink Shirt please pick up an order form in the office.  Orders are due back by Friday, October 1st.

Dean of Students Announcement
On Wednesday, September 22nd I had the privilege of taking the juniors and seniors to the college fair at DWU and the career fair at the fairgrounds. The students had the opportunity to meet with representatives while exploring different colleges and career choices. We ended our trip to Mitchell at Pizza Ranch, and I am still convinced that I won the eating contest. Although I think I may have had more fun than the students, I still hope they had a fun but educational morning planning their next steps after high school. I look forward to helping these students plan their futures throughout this school year.  Thanks to all the students that were in attendance.

The financial aid (FAFSA) night will be held in Woonsocket this year on Monday, October 4th at 5:30 pm. All seniors and parents/guardians are invited to come and learn the step-by-step process to filling out the FAFSA form. All seniors who are planning on going to college should fill out the FAFSA. Morgan Huber from MTC will be there to answer any questions and to lead the presentation. If you are not able to attend the FAFSA night, please reach out to Miss Amundson for any questions regarding the FAFSA.

Juniors - ASVAB:
The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test is scheduled for Wednesday, October 6 at 8:15 am in the middle school lab. All juniors are required to take this test and should come with their chromebooks fully charged. This test provides career information and determines whether you are qualified to join the military service. The ASVAB does not count towards a class grade. Educators Rising
All high school students (9th-12th grade) have the opportunity to attend the education career learning expo's available at USF or DWU. This is a FREE opportunity for students to explore a career in education.
