The JH football team
hosts Lower Brule at 4:30 today in Springs. Note about today’s JH game at Wessington
Springs. Due to lateness of scheduling this game and coronation at
Wessington Springs this evening, there will not be a concession stand available
at the game.
Congrats
to the following FFA members on your accomplishments from last week! Shania Cornelius,
Noah Wormstadt, Leighton Tarbox and Dana Schelske were recipients of the Blue
Jackets Bright Futures FFA Jacket program! To its owner, the FFA jacket is a physical reminder of the personal accomplishments achieved through the organization - a symbol of commitment and dedication for all who wear the corduroy. This fall 316 South Dakota FFA members from 68 chapters, will receive their own FFA jackets through the SD FFA Foundation Blue Jackets Bright Futures FFA Jacket Program - carrying forward that long-standing tradition of pride, dignity and honor. Jackets were sponsored by various individuals through the SD FFA Foundation program, welcoming new members into the fabric of FFA. FFA members filled out the Blue Jackets Bright Futures FFA Jacket Program application, answering four short essay questions about their FFA experience and goals, competing to earn their own FFA jacket instead of purchasing one.
The
results are in from Central Land and Range Regions in Wessington Springs from
last Wednesday. The range team took 7th
place. The land team took 6th place,
with Samantha Dean receiving a silver metal and Katie Schmit and Tyler Eddy
receiving bronze metals. Good job to all who participated!

The Annual Q107 Quiz Bowl kicks off today. Our contestants don’t have a match until

Johnson is with the juniors and seniors.
She will also be gone on Wednesday, October 3rd.

the JV game on Thursday there will be some normal JV players that will not be
playing due to game on Friday. We are going to ask 8th graders
to dress for the JV game on Thursday. No guarantee they will play and
they do not have to dress for the game if they do not want
to. With that said we are inviting 8th graders
to attend practice on Wednesday to practice with JV. If they cannot make
it because of church that is understood.
Wednesday:
The following students will be attending the High
School Choral Leadership Workshop at NSU in Aberdeen on Wednesday, October
3rd: Lucy Nicholson, Tory Reinders, Dayton Easton, Alexis Kelly, Harley
Kneen, Shania Cornelius, Leighton Tarbox, and Teagen Swearingen. The bus
will leave Sanborn Central at 6:00 am and Woonsocket at 6:15 am.
Friday, October 5th the band students will leave SC at
7:15 – Alex S, Evan E, Casady D, Michael H, Toby K, Brady L, Sidney S, Samantha

HEALTH
Monday, October 15th at 7:45 staff and
students will be treated to the Annual Flu Shot Clinic. The volleyball
teams have games that night and the Sanborn County Nurse will return on October
18th to give anyone a shot that didn’t receive it previously.
Forms will be sent home with Pre-K thru 5th grade and placed on
lockers for 6th thru 12th. Forms are due back

BAND
The Blackhawks Marching Band will be traveling and
attending the Lake Area Marching Festival in Chester, SD on Friday, October
5th. This festival is a great opportunity to watch other bands and receive
feedback on our marching and playing! What to Bring:

* $6.00 for lunch or own lunch

The Booster Club will meet for the
monthly scheduled meeting on Wednesday, October 3rd at 8 pm in the
commons at Sanborn Central.
Cancer Awareness Nights
October 11th when we travel to White Lake for
Volleyball they will be hosting a Think Pink Night. Complete with a
silent basket auction, specials at concession stand, and selling shirts.
