The State KC Free Throw Contest was held in Chamberlain
on Sunday. Congratulations to Trent Kingsbury for placing 4th and Kayla Olson
for placing 5th (Maddie Vermeulen was unable to attend due to prior
commitments).
Congratulations to the Lady Blackhawks on their Region
Championship win over Mitchell Christian on Friday night, 53-47. Game stats:
Rachelle Moore – 10 points, 3 rebounds, 1 steal, 2 assists; Candace Page-Marten
– 2 steals, 2 assists; Marissa Weber – 11 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists; Morgan
Selland – 1 steal; Rachel Selland – 3 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 assists; Shelby
Selland – 18 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals; Myah Selland – 11 points, 5 rebounds,
4 steals, 4 assists. They will be playing in the State B Tournament at the Huron
Arena starting on Thursday at 1:45 p.m. against Sully Buttes.
Congratulations to those participating in the district
wrestling tournament. Madi Moody placed 1st, Mason Moody placed 3rd, and Tryce
Slykhuis placed 5th. They will be competing at regions this Saturday at the
Corn Palace.
SCW Blackhawks State B Tourney t-shirts are available for
order. Orders need to be turned in by Tuesday morning. The shirts are black and
cost $12 for YS-XL and $14 for 2XL/3XL. Make your checks payable to SC Spirit
Club (or to Woonsocket Boosters if you’ll be ordering through them) and include
with your order form. The shirts will be ready for Thursday’s game. More information
will be made available this week with exact details for picking up your shirts.

TODAY - MONDAY:
Wear Orange for Fairness today.
Soccer signup sheets were sent home with students in
grades PK-5 last week. Registration forms need to be returned to the office by today.
MS and HS students wishing to play should stop in the office for a form. There
have also been inquiries as to whether we would have interest in teams U14-U19
to play in the area. If any students are interested, please sign up and they’ll
see if they can perhaps field a team. In the following SC Google Drive folder

FFA members will be attending a CDE at Howard on Tuesday.
The bus will leave at 9:30 a.m.
State B t-shirts order forms need to be turned in by
Tuesday morning.
Boys’ Region basketball championship games are being
played on Tuesday. At the Corn Palace in Mitchell, James Valley Christian will
be playing Kimball/White Lake for the Region 5 championship at 6:00 p.m., followed
by South Central vs. Ethan for the Region 6 championship.

Basketball Tournament, school will dismiss at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. Busses

Eligibility and Homework Club will be calculated on
Thursday.
The Lady Blackhawks will be playing Sully Buttes at 1:45
p.m. in the 2nd game of the afternoon

REMINDERS:
From Mr. Gross: The Sanborn Central FFA needs parents who would be
interested in helping chaperone FFA events. On Tuesday, March 12 we will
be going to DeSmet; on Friday, March 22 we will be going to Little I in
Brookings; and on Tuesday, April 2 we will be going to Miller. If able to
help, please send an email to shane.gross@k12.sd.us or call the
school and leave a message. Also, I have spoken to a few parents who have
expressed interest in helping chaperone State Convention this year. If
you haven't talked to me but are interested in helping please call or email.

Soccer coaches are needed! If interested, please see Mary

The High Plains Soccer League (Sanborn Central,
Woonsocket, Wessington Springs) is looking for soccer referees. There will be a
certification clinic on Friday, March 8 from 6:30 – 10:00 p.m. and on Saturday,
March 9 from 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 noon at the Huron High School. After attending
both sessions, there will be a quick test and participants will become
certified as Grade 8 soccer referees. These are paid positions. If interested,
contact the school office for more information.
With the basketball tournaments upon us, the Blackhawk
Cheerleaders would like to remind everyone of the following Tournament Rules
that are set by the South Dakota High School Activities Association (SDHSAA).
These rules apply to all district, region and state events.
1. Banners and signs of all kinds are prohibited
2. All types of noisemakers are prohibited
3. Paper confetti and silly string are prohibited
4. Balloons are prohibited
5. Megaphones are prohibited except by a Cheerleader
6. Human tunnels created by students and/or adults are
prohibited
7. Laser pointers are prohibited and will be confiscated
8. Students are asked not to stand on the seats
9. All fans must wear shirts – Body paint is not allowed
for either students or adults
10. The following ARE permitted: Face paint, pennants,
number one fingers, foam noodles, homer hankies, rooter poms, etc.
Please help support our cheerleaders and players by using
good sportsmanship in cheering our teams to a victory. Good luck Blackhawk
cheerleaders, players and coaches!
