The Lady Blackhawks played basketball games last night
against Bridgewater/Emery at Woonsocket. The JV girls won, 42-10. Leaders:
Morgan Selland – 9 points; Tayla Weber – 9 points; Myah Selland – 8 points; Ashley
Schmit – 6 points and 4 rebounds; Bailey Moody – 4 rebounds. The Varsity girls
won, 64-33. Leaders: Marissa Weber – 14 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists; Shelby
Selland – 13 points, 3 assists; Rachelle Moore – 9 points, 5 steals; Rachel
Selland – 9 points, 3 assists; Ashley Schmit – 7 points; Myah Selland – 6 points,
5 rebounds, 3 assists.
Congratulations to Tryce Slykhuis who placed 3rd in his
wrestling weight class at Flandreau over the weekend. Plankinton saw Mason
Moody placing 3rd, Cooper Goldammer 2nd, and Madi Moody 1st in their respective
weight classes.
The SCW Blackhawks caps have arrived and will be
available at home basketball games or by contacting Troy Olson. Cost is
$15.

TODAY - TUESDAY:
Basketball practice: 7th girls at Sanborn Central
There will not be any tutoring today.
The Blackhawks have double-header basketball games at
Iroquois today. Here’s the schedule:
4:00 p.m. – JH Girls and JH boys at same time in both
gyms
5:15 p.m. – JV Boys
6:30 p.m. – Varsity Girls
8:00 p.m. – Varsity Boys
Note: No girls JV game
TIME CHANGE: The JV and Varsity bus will leave Woonsocket
at 3:15 p.m. and pick up Sanborn Central JV and Varsity players at 3:25
p.m. The JH players and drivers will be
leaving at 2:40 p.m.

The High School Vocal Contest will take place in Kimball

FRIDAY:
Basketball practice: 7th Girls at Sanborn Central
6th Grade will have Guidance on Friday.
The Blackhawks have double-header basketball games
against Highmore-Harrold in Woonsocket on Friday. The boys will be playing
first. Games start at 4:00 p.m. in the following order: JV Boys, JV Girls,
Varsity Boys, Varsity Girls.
The Woonsocket Junior Class will be serving BBQ pulled
pork sandwiches during the games on Friday starting at 4:00 p.m. Sandwich,
chips, pop/water and bar will be $5.00, or a sandwich only for $3.00.
The Pep Band will NOT be playing on Friday night.

The District Knights of Columbus Free Throw Contest will
be held in DeSmet on Sunday afternoon from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Doors open at 12:30

The Lady Blackhawks have basketball games at James Valley
Christian School in Huron on Monday. The JH girls will play at 5:15 p.m., JV
girls at 6:30 p.m. and Varsity girls around 8:00 p.m.

REMINDERS:
The Way Station in Woonsocket will deliver valentine
specials to students for free on Valentine’s Day if ordered before February 14.
The basic special is a 9” air-filled valentine balloon attached to a box of
assorted candy with a bow for $7.50. Add a 10” bear for $8.25 or a 15” bear for
$13.50. They also have candy bouquets, mylar balloons and fresh flowers. Give
them a call at 605-796-4348 to customize your order. Delivery is also available
to all surrounding areas, or you can pick up your order yourself at the Way
Station.
Logan Moody’s February Caring Project is to send
valentines to the Veteran’s Hospital and local nursing homes. Elementary
students will be making valentines. If you would care to donate for postage or
make some valentines, please contact Mary at mary.ackman@k12.sd.us.
WANTED: Sanborn Central is in need of someone to organize
and supervise the spring soccer league for our students. The league is
Woonsocket, Wessington Springs, and Sanborn Central. It involves lining up
coaches for each age group and coaching/supervising all the practices and

be interested. The pay is $800 for the season.
