Reminder: The JV Girls basketball game starts at
6:15 p.m. tonight instead of the usual 6:30 p.m.
The JH basketball games with Corsica/Stickney will not be
made up as no available dates could be found.
The Blackhawks played basketball against Corsica/Stickney
at Corsica on Friday night.
The JV girls won, 35-12. Leaders: Savannah Swenson – 12 points,
4 rebounds; Myah Selland – 8 points, 4 rebounds, 6 steals; Ashley Schmit – 6 points;
Morgan Selland – 5 points, Kelbi Dean – 4 points. The Varsity girls won, 50-41.
Leaders: Shelby Selland – 12 points, Marissa Weber – 11 points, 5 assists; Myah
Selland – 10 points, 7 rebounds; Rachel Selland – 5 points, 10 rebounds, 5
steals; Morgan Selland – 8 points.
The JV boys lost, 42-48. No other stats were available.
The Varsity boys lost 45-64. Scoring: Jaedyn Ford – 3, Davion Brooks – 8, Todd
Stekl – 9, Tyler Krueger – 3, Tucker Kingsbury – 6, Drew HInker – 6, Nick
Miller – 10.
The Blackhawks had games against Wolsey/Wessington at
Sanborn Central on Saturday.
The JV girls won, 50-24. Leaders: Savanna Swenson – 12 points,
4 rebounds; Morgan Selland – 9 points; Myah Selland – 8 points, 3 rebounds, 6
assists; Tayla Weber – 7 points; Tanna Kingsbury – 7 points. The Varsity girls
won, 61-25. Leaders: Rachelle Moore – 18 points, 3 assists, 3 steals; Shelby
Selland – 14 points, 9 rebounds; Myah Selland – 11 points, 3 assists, 3 steals.
The JV boys won. The Varsity boys lost, 48-86. Scoring:

The Lady Blackhawks have basketball games against
Emery/Bridgewater tonight at Woonsocket. The JV girls will play at 6:15 p.m.
and the Varsity girls when they’re finished.
The Pep Band is scheduled to play tonight.
The Woonsocket Boosters will be selling pizza from
Skeeters for $2.00 a slice during tonight’s games starting at 6:00 p.m.

TUESDAY:
Basketball practice: 7th girls at Sanborn Central
The Blackhawks have double-header basketball games at
Iroquois on Tuesday. Here’s the schedule:
4:00 p.m. – JH Girls and JH boys at same time in both
gyms
5:15 p.m. – JV Boys
6:30 p.m. – Varsity Girls
8:00 p.m. – Varsity Boys
Note: No girls JV game
The JV and Varsity bus will leave Woonsocket at 2:50 p.m.
and pick up Sanborn Central JV and Varsity players at 3:00 p.m. Both schools will be responsible for getting
their JH players to Iroquois.

FRIDAY:
Basketball practice: 7th Girls at Sanborn Central
The Blackhawks have double-header basketball games
against Highmore-Harrold in Woonsocket on Friday. The boys will be playing
first. Games start at 4:00 p.m. in the following order: JV Boys, JV Girls,
Varsity Boys, Varsity Girls.
The Woonsocket Junior Class will be serving BBQ pulled
pork sandwiches during the games on Friday starting at 4:00 p.m. Sandwich,
chips, pop/water and bar will be $5.00, or a sandwich only for $3.00.

THIS WEEKEND:
The District Knights of Columbus Free Throw Contest will
be held in DeSmet on Sunday afternoon from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Doors open at 12:30
p.m.

REMINDERS:
The Way Station in Woonsocket will deliver valentine
specials to students for free on Valentine’s Day if ordered before February 14.
The basic special is a 9” air-filled valentine balloon attached to a box of
assorted candy with a bow for $7.50. Add a 10” bear for $8.25 or a 15” bear for
$13.50. They also have candy bouquets, mylar balloons and fresh flowers. Give
them a call at 605-796-4348 to customize your order. Delivery is also available
to all surrounding areas, or you can pick up your order yourself at the Way
Station.
Logan Moody’s February Caring Project is to send
valentines to the Veteran’s Hospital and local nursing homes. Elementary
students will be making valentines. If you would care to donate for postage or
make some valentines, please contact Mary at mary.ackman@k12.sd.us.
WANTED: Sanborn Central is in need of someone to organize
and supervise the spring soccer league for our students. The league is
Woonsocket, Wessington Springs, and Sanborn Central. It involves lining up
coaches for each age group and coaching/supervising all the practices and

be interested. The pay is $800 for the season.
