October 29th Health screening is schedules for 1st, 5th, and 10th


October 29th-November 2nd seniors at participating high schools are eligible for up to three application fee waivers at participating in-state postsecondary institutions.  This includes all public and technical schools in South Dakota.   For more information see Mrs. Johnson.



We have one XL cancer awareness shirt available for just $10.  Contact the school if you are interested.

      Monday, October 29th #10 Mitchell @ #7DRSM and #9 Howard @ #8 ORR starting at 7pm.
·         Tuesday, October 30th The Blackhawks will play Hanson following the 5:00 match in Madison's 2nd gym. The set-up will be the same with the #1 Chester vs. winner of #8ORR and #9 Howard at 5pm then 20 minutes later #2 Ethan will play the winner between #7 DRSM and #10 Mitchell Christian (this will be in the main gym). In the other gym starting at 6:30pm will be #4 Sanborn/Woonsocket vs. #5 Hanson then #3 ELB vs #6 CE.
·         Thursday, November 1st matches will start at 5pm with the winner of the #1 and #8/#9 vs winner of #4 and #5 then 20 minutes after that match will be the 2nd Region 4 match between #2/#7/#10 and #3/#6. Madison High School will then play after the 2nd match.
·         These games will not be streamed.

October 31st The local Oral Interp contest will be help starting at 10:00AM

 November 1 Oral Interp will be held at DWU. Lily Overson and Alexis Kelly are entered with a duet and Alexis Kelly with a humorous monologue. Students need to be to school by 7:45 as we will be leaving by 8:00. Make sure to dress up! (NO jeans!) 

November 6th the next quiz bowl match will be at 9:25 Nov 6th with an undetermined opponent. We believe that Kyle Z, Madi M, Cole M, Renee F, and Alex W will come out ahead in that one! You can listen to yesterday's podcast at http://www.q107radio.com/quiz-bowl-podcasts/

November 13th more games are added to the 5/6th basketball schedule. 

There will be 2 shortened girls games and 2 shortened boys games with a starting time of 5:15 for the girls and the boys following at 6:30.  The games will be played in Woonsocket.

November 13th Congratulations to the following students who were selected to participate in this year's Junior High Music Festival that will be held in Platte

On November 13th, the bus will depart Sanborn Central at 6:30 am and Woonsocket at 6:45 am with return times approximately 5:00 pm.  Lunch is $7.00.  Please turn lunch money into Mrs. Easton by November 1st.  There will be a free concert at the Platte elementary gym at 2:30.  Family and friends are welcome to attend!

November 19th 5/6th boys game has been added to the schedule.  Sanborn Central vs Wess. Springs at 6:00PM.  Note this is a boys game only

COMMUNITY

It is time to dig out the winter coats and if you find any winter coats that no longer work for your family, consider donating them to the Sanborn Central Coat Drive. We will be collecting new and gently used coats, hats, mittens and boots starting Monday, October 8th until November 8th. A collection box will be available at Sanborn Central school.



On Wednesday, Oct. 31st (Halloween) Artesian Area WWTS will have a “movie night” with the feature movie being MOSES.  The fun will begin at 5:30 pm and conclude at 7:15 pm.  All area youth ages K-6th
grade are welcome to attend and wear their Halloween costumes.  Each family is asked to bring a snack to share.  Parents are welcome also.

The Union Farmhands 4H Club needs your assistance in updating their Birthday and Anniversary Calendar.  Please get any changes or additions to Gayle Bechen by October 
29th at gayle.bechen@k12.sd.us or 605-495-4183. 

Saturday November 3rd at 10 a.m. a county Legion Auxiliary meeting will be held at the Letcher Community center, all area Auxiliary members are welcome.

Sunday Nov 11 at 6 p.m. a pot luck Veterans day supper for all area veterans and their families.  Short program to follow with Karen Klinkner to tell us about her Honor Flight to DC. Bring a dish to share and come to Letcher. 



Celebrate Veterans Day on November 11, 2018 at 12pm at the Artesian Community Center.  The meal is free to veterans and the American Legion Auxiliary is asking for  free will donation for other guests.  Please call Laura Pearson by November 5, 2018 605-999-2139 so that we can have enough food prepared.  The meal is prepared by the American Legion Auxiliary.The snow date will be November 18, 2018.
