SANBORN CENTRAL E-NEWS
Congratulations to the Middle School Student of the Month
nominees for November: Band – Austin Schmit, Social Studies – Kayla Olson, VoAg
– Cody Ruml, Reading – Maddie Vermeulen, English – Kayla Olson, Math – Madi Moody,
Science – Renee Farmer, Health – Abby Vermeulen, Computers – Trent Kingsbury,
and Vocal – Renee Farmer. Star Student of the Month honors were given to Renee
Farmer.
Please remember to send food pantry donations to school
with your student. This is being sponsored by Logan Moody as part of her Senior
Project (check under Reminders below for more information).
From Mr. Kroeger: Due to more estimated events than
expected causing students to miss lessons (weather, assemblies, myself not
being present for extra music rehearsals and events), I have reduced the number
of required lessons for this quarter from seven to five. Please check the
Parent Portal to make sure your students are up-to-date on this. All missing
lessons become a zero at the end of this week and can be made up by the end of
next week. I will be updating the grade book at the end of the day.
From Alec Schmidt (Senior at SCHS): The Relay For Life is
a fundraiser put on by the American Cancer Society. There are 1000’s of them
held nationwide. There are two main goals for a Relay For Life: raise hope for
cancer survivors and their caregivers, and to raise money for research and to
fund the programs that help the survivors. At the local Relay For Life you will
find that it is done in mid-summer and alternates between Woonsocket and
Wessington Springs. At the event you will find anything from the luminaries to
somebody making balloon animals for the kids. It is designed to be appropriate for
all ages so that everyone can enjoy. The 2013 event will take place in
Woonsocket at the lake. There is nothing better than celebrating more birthdays!
“A world with less cancer is a world with more birthdays.” – American Cancer
Society motto. As a survivor myself I know how it affects a person and Relay is
one way for survivors to come together and share their stories. So donate to
the local Sanborn/Jerauld Counties Relay For Life by purchasing raffle tickets
for your chance to win a super soft micro-fleece blanket and a coffee tumbler.
Both are purple with the Relay For Life logo and other graphics. Tickets are 1
for $2 or 3 for $5. Tickets are available through the Sanborn Central office or
through me (see information under Reminders below). “Everybody in this lifetime
is affected or will be affected by cancer. So why not help us stop it now?” –
John R. Seffrin
