Its Fire Safety Week! Thank You Artesian Fire Department for taking time from your day to educate our students on fire safety.

If you are in need of fire alarms, please contact Laura at the school by e-mail laura.licht@k12.sd.us to have alarms sent home with your child. The Artesian Fire Department has be kind enough to supply alarms to our families.

As many of you know, the Sanborn Central School District has been utilizing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) as our reinforcement system this year. Every week tickets are passed out to students who are representing and showing Blackhawk PRIDE (Positive, Respectful, Integrity, Dedication, and Excellence). At the end of every week, four students and a staff member are chosen as Blackhawk PRIDE winners. In an effort to celebrate the success of ALL students at Sanborn Central, we will be hosting a PBIS end-of-the-quarter party on Thursday, October 19. As long as weather cooperates, we will be outside doing various activities (bean bags, popsicles, and more) to celebrate all of our students who have shown Blackhawk PRIDE in various ways throughout the quarter! Thank you for your continued support.

Today is the end of the first quarter. Elementary RC will go home October 20th. HS/MS grades are due October 19th from the teachers.

The Dig Pink game will be at SC on Tuesday, October 24th starting at 4:00. The line-up starts with 7th grade followed by 8th, C, JH, and V. Pep Band please be here by 6:30

Notes from Ms. Amundson
Many sophomores, juniors, and seniors have expressed interest in taking the district ACT that will be offered and administered here at the school, during the regular school day, on Tuesday, October 17th at 8:30 AM.

The cost to take the ACT is $51.75. Please send a check with your child to school next week written out to "Sanborn Central School" for $51.75. The school will then write a big check to ACT. Please have your student return the check to me by Friday, October 13.
In an effort to help ease text anxiety and help gain confidence in themselves, I have arranged ACT prep sessions for students to attend, which started today.
Here is the ACT Prep schedule:
Friday, October 13 at 11:35-12:25: Students will review their answers and go through practice problems with Mrs. Wilson
Monday, October 16 at 11:35-12:25: ACT strategies and tips presentation with myself (Ms. Amundson)
Tuesday, October 17 at 8:30 AM (students arrive between 8:00-8:15 AM to prepare themselves): ACT District Test Day!
With it being an orange day today there weren't many seniors that attended the ACT prep session today. If seniors would like to take the ACT science practice test Monday morning at 7:45 AM, I would be happy to sit in the room with them and start the timer.
Please reach out to me with any questions and/or concerns.
Ms. Amundson
