Semester test will take place today (blue day) and tomorrow (orange day).  As a policy, students who have failing grades or missing assignments are required to be in attendance for class even if there is no test being given.

Field Day for elementary is schedule for Tuesday, May 17th starting at 12:30 on the football field.  There is a chance of precipitation on Tuesday.  Therefore we may need to move Field Day to the morning of the 17th or cancel.

Sanborn Central will be offering summer school for interested high school and middle school students.
High school students could potentially receive credit for courses they did not pass this year.
Middle school students could use this opportunity to jumpstart their academic skills for the 2022-2023 school year.
Summer school will be held June 1-30 (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) from 8:00-12:00. Attendance is required everyday.

*As a reminder, school is also being offered to grades K-5. Activities are planned for June 7-30th Tuesday-Thursday from 8-12.  A snack will be provided, and their is no cost to participate.  Transportation will be the responsibility of the family.

Extra Curricular
Our SCW FFA Chapter Banquet will be Tuesday, May 17. It will be held in the gym at Sanborn Central starting at 6:30pm. We are very excited to celebrate with all of you everything that our chapter has done over the last year! At our event we will highlight various award winners, recap the year.
Our event will be potluck style. We have assigned dishes via grade - please see below to figure out what type of food to bring for the group!

This event is a great way to celebrate  all FFA members - please wear your Official FFA Dress(OD) to the banquet. 

The Region 5A Track and Field Meet will be held Thursday, May 19th at Wagner.  Admission is $6 for adults and students are $4.  Participants and coaches only on the infield; must stay within the playing field boundaries.  No electronic devices, to include cell phones, IPods and etc in the immediate competitive area.

Save the date June 6-7th girls state golf at the Hart Ranch (Rapid City), and boys state at the Elks Club (Rapid City.)

Megan Wilson will be offering summer workouts for SC/Woonsocket female athletes.  Workouts will be held Mondays and Thursdays from 7:30-8:30 AM in June and July. Dual Credit Sign Up
Ms. Amundson has started meeting with students to sign up for dual credit courses for this summer and fall. Current sophomores and juniors, please find a time to meet with Ms. Amundson to sign up for dual credit courses if you would like to do so. Registration must be completed before summer break begins.

SDSU Health Professions Career Camp
South Dakota State University is hosting a Health Professions Career Camp from July 12-15 on the campus of South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD. The aim of the Health Professions Career Camp is to inform, educate, and inspire high school students about the many careers available in health-related professions. Students will have the chance to participate in field trips to health care facilities and to interact with a variety of health care professionals. The camp will begin on the afternoon of July 12, and conclude with a faculty/adviser panel, meal, and a chance to meet with Admissions Office representatives on the afternoon of July 15. Cost for participants is $100 each, which includes food, lodging, and all other expenses associated with the program.

Community

Giving students and teachers the opportunity to utilize an Outdoor Learning space for creativity and inspiration is on one student’s mind this summer.

Hudson Fouberg is working on completing this project on school property and is looking for donations of Perennial plants and flowers to use

In the Landscaping of the project.  Please contact Hudson at djfouberg@santel.net if you have any plants you would like to donate toward this project.


Sanborn County 4-H is planning a Day Camp & Project Day on Tuesday, May 24th from 9 am – 3:30 pm at the 4-H Building.  We will have various learning and safety sessions with hands-on activities, make some 4-H projects and play games. Lunch/snacks are included, as well as project supplies.  This is open to ages 5-18, both 4-H and non-4-H kids.  Cost is a free-will donation that will be used towards the purchase of playground equipment for the 4-H grounds.

Letcher Community Church will host Vacation Bible School (VBS) July 25 - 28 from 5:30 - 8:30 PM. Inviting children from 4 years old through students entering 8th grade. We also welcome high school students who would like to volunteer to help with VBS. 


The Sanborn County 4-H group is in need of cans with the following sizes.  Please bring to the SC office if you have these items.
