Thursday-April 15th (Orange Day)

Tomorrow will be a 12:30 dismissal due to staff Covid Shots.  Due to Pre-School screening tomorrow regular pre-school classes will not be in session.

The De Smet Booster Club Relays scheduled for today has been postponed.
We will possibly have a Booster Club last chance relay on May 17th or 18th.  Stay tuned for information regarding this track meet.

The JH track meet scheduled for tomorrow has been cancelled!

The SC/W Girls and Boys Basketball programs will be working together selling Krispy Kreme Donuts to raise funds for a new shooting gun for the Woonsocket Gym. Order forms will be handed out to next year's 9th-12th Graders. Donut forms will be due on May 7th and Donuts will be delivered on May 16th! 

Woonsocket and SC will be holding a driver's education classes together again this year. The instructor is Mitch Korbel. The cost for the program is $250 per student payable to the Woonsocket School District. Classroom sessions will be Thursday, May 20th, Friday, May 21st, Monday, May 24th and Tuesday, May 25th all in Woonsocket from 8-3:30.

Tuesday, April 20th the HS track team will attend a track meet in Howard.  The events starting at 1:30.

Friday, April 23rd the JH track athletes will be at Bridgewater for the Huskie Invite.  The meet will begin at 1:00
The HS track team will be at Mt. Vernon for the Greenway Relays with a 1:30 start time.

Saturday, April 24 is a rescheduled meet for the JH track team at Mt. Vernon beginning at 10 in the morning.  Field events and running events beginning at noon.

Interested Football Cheerleaders a sign up sheet is in the office.  Be sure to sign up before Friday, and talk to coach Shelly (605)354-4231.  A meeting will be held in Woonsocket Thursday, April 22nd at 11:00.

The Blackhawk boys basketball team will be conducting the Blackhawk Skills Academy on Thursday, May 20th and Friday, May 21st for girls and boys who will be in 2nd-8th grade next year.  Forms will be going home today and will need to be returned by Friday, April 16th to Laura in the office.

FFA
We had an incredible time at State FFA Convention and are very grateful for everyone who made it possible to have an in-person event full of learning, laughing, and making memories. We were able to take 14 SCW FFA members out to Rapid City for the first ever west river convention! We had two teams competing, Agronomy and Milk Quality Products (results below), four State Degree Recipients, and all 14 members were able to attend sessions, participate in the career carnival, and help with the state-wide service project.
The Milk Quality Products CDE tests students’ knowledge of the dairy industry by identifying cheeses, deciphering between dairy & imitation dairy products, and identifying defects in milk samples. They also test the students over general knowledge as it relates to dairy production & manufacturing. The Milk Quality Products team consisted of Madison Schmiedt, Megann Walz, Maolrie Mattke and Dilyn Brooks. Kailynn Egglseton was the alternate team member. The team placed 8th, and the individual placings were; Mattke in 13th, Schmiedt in 28th, Brooks in 29th, and Walz in 31st. There were 33 teams and 124 individuals competing.
The Agronomy CDE tests students' knowledge on identification of plants and seeds including forages, crops and weeds. In addition they are required to have a broad understanding of agronomic knowledge, much of which is not normally learned until a collegiate level. The SCW Agronomy team consisted of Harley Kneen, Xavier Baysinger, Brady Larson and Brooklyn Johnson. Jaycee Baruth was the alternate team member. The team placed 13th, and the individual placings were; Baysinger in 33rd, Kneen in 39th, Larson in 48th and Johnson in 78th. There were 25 teams and 96 individuals competing.

Any sophomore or junior interested in attending the USD Summer Accounting Institute July 11-15, please see Mrs. Foxley!  The deadline to register is May 21, 2021.

Juniors interested in applying for a $750 scholarship from Central Electric, please come see Mrs. Foxley. 

Boys State applications are open to all juniors and seniors for the 2021 session! Boys State will be held May 31-June 4 on Northern State University's campus. Applications are due May 1. Please see Mrs. Foxley with questions about how to apply. 

Any sophomores or juniors interested in attending the HOBY leadership seminar, please contact Mrs. Foxley. The seminar will be held virtually June 10-12, 2021.
