Orange Day

Track at home today.

We will be having a HS joint practice in Springs after school tomorrow.

If you are in the spring play you will be rehearsing every morning starting at 7:30am. On Monday April 29th, there will be rehearsal after school up until the performance at 6pm.

Drivers Ed forms were placed on lockers. If you didn’t get one, please see Mary.

8th Grade Class is selling May Day Baskets filled w/ cookies through Thursdays April 25th.
One for $1 or Six for $5
Chocolate Chip, Sugar, or Mix (3 Choc. Chip & 3 Sugars)

If you are missing an item please check the lost and found in the office. All items will be donated after the spring concert on April 25th.

Sports
The Baseball team will have a dbl header at Springs against Madison at 6:00 PM today.  Friday the V-JV will be in Redfield with the first pitch thrown at 6:00pm.

The HS Golf team will show off their talents tomorrow at Desmet at 1:00.

As of today soccer practice will be held tomorrow at 5:30. There will be no soccer practice 4-25 due to the spring concert.

Friday the HS track meet is in Redfield with the bus leaving at 9:45.  The JH track team will be in Bridgewater with a 1:00 start time.

All 8-11th volleyball girls need to sign up for gold medal squared volleyball camp by April 30.

Blackhawk workout forms to all boys and girls grades 3-8 were handed out.  Girls 9-12th if you are interested please stop in the office.  Forms are due back April 22nd


Band/Chorus
5-7 Band Parents,
Students are performing at the Region 5 grade school contest in Platte on Wednesday, April 24th. You are welcome to come and watch your child perform at 1pm at Platte-Geddes school.
Students should dress up for the day. This can be similar to something they might wear to church, or for a special holiday, or funeral. It is imperative that they remember to bring their music and instruments to school that day.
Below is the tentative itinerary for the day:
11:00am Depart from Forestburg
12:30pm Arrive in Platte, SD
12:55pm Sanborn Central 5/6 band warms up
1:00pm Sanborn Central 5/6 band performs for the judges
1:15pm Sanborn Central 5/6 band departs for Forestburg
3:00pm Arrives in Forestburg in time for regular route buses 

Thursday, April 25th Spring Concert at SC at 7:00PM

The FFA Banquet is Thursday, May 9th at 6 pm at Sanborn Central.

Central Electric Cooperative is opening up applications again for one week for our Empower Youth Leadership Program for high school freshman and sophomores in Brule, Buffalo, Davison, Miner, Jerauld, and Sanborn counties. The program includes:
  • One-day Leadership Workshop, Mitchell, SD – end of May (date TBD). Leadership workshops will include guest speakers, leadership training, and networking.
  • Program Highlight: SD Rural Electric Youth Excursion, North Dakota, July 22-25, 2019 : During the four-day all-expense paid excursion students will stay at Bismarck State College and tour the power-generation facilities in North Dakota where a majority of the electricity they use is produced. Students will also participate in hands-on electrical experiments and attend social activities like swimming, shopping, and a riverboat cruise down the Missouri River. 
  • One-day Leadership Workshop, Mitchell, SD – August (date TBD)
 The deadline to submit applications is Friday, April 26th. One student from each county may be selected. Students do not need to be a member, but do need to reside in one of the following counties: Brule, Buffalo, Davison, Miner, Jerauld, Sanborn. Community

Letcher Legion Auxiliary is hosting a Spring salad lunch and silent auction Wednesday May 1st starting at 11:30-1:00 at the Letcher Community Center.  Cost is $5 and $3 for under 12. Come to legion to get good food and see what treasures you can get on the silent auction. If you wish to donate anything have it there by 10:45 . 


Women's fellowship at the Letcher Community Church will take place Thursday, May 9th at 1:30.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

SAVE THE DATE:  Sanborn County 4-H and Sanborn County Farmers Union will 
be holding their Day Camp at the 4-H building on
Tuesday, May 21st.  Information and registration forms will be sent home
