SANBORN CENTRAL E-NEWS

Mr. Kroeger, SCW Band Instructor, has put out a revised syllabus. Please share it with your band student. View it here: www.sanborncentral.com/docs/2012KroegerSyllabus-revised.pdf

From Mrs. Danek: The yearbooks are in, the yearbooks are in!!! If you would like to purchase a 2011-2012 yearbook and haven’t yet, please call the school and talk to Mrs. Danek. The price is $34.00. If you send payment to the school, we will try to get the yearbook to you. The yearbooks were sent home with students on Monday afternoon.

From Mrs. Whitney: Here is a reference sheet put out by the CANS (Child & Adult Nutrition Services) office in Pierre (Reference Sheet: www.sanborncentral.com/docs/2012SchoolLunch.pdf. I was also informed by one of our patrons that to voice your concerns there is an e-mail set up that goes to the "powers that be" in Washington, DC.  That e-mail address is healthierschoolday@fns.usda.gov.  I was on a conference call led by Senator Russell Olson on Friday with Kristi Noem participating.  She is very aware of the concerns out there about the new meal plan.  If we want to make Washington aware of the issues we have with the new requirements, please e-mail the address given above and let them know your concerns.  We are all about healthy school lunches and agree with some of the new requirements but it needs to be changes made to take into account individual student needs.  This is a national issue as I'm hearing that the same concerns are being voiced around the country. Let your voice be heard. E-mail healthierschoolday@fns.usda.gov today! Thanks for your help!

Last year Sanborn Central implemented "Extra Help Days" into the school calendar. Extra Help Days fall about once a month, are open to all students, and are an excellent opportunity for students to meet with teachers and receive some one-on-one assistance. Students who are missing assignments as of 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 19, will be required to attend school on Friday, September 21 from 8:00 - 11:00 a.m. No busses will run or meals will be served on Extra Help Days.  Any student with missing assignments is urged to come in, but any student in Middle School or High School will be required to come in.
