SANBORN CENTRAL E-NEWS

Condolences are extended to the Seitz family with the passing of Angela’s mother, Margaret Mennenger; and to Mrs. Swenson and Ms. Senska with the passing of their uncle, Bob Ellingson.

The Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central Blackhawks fell to 2-4 on the year last Friday as they were defeated by Hitchcock-Tulare 6-42 in Hitchcock. The Blackhawks found themselves behind 0-28 midway through the 2nd quarter before they scored on a 49 yard run by Trevor Easton. The Blackhawks had a couple of other scoring chances, but were unable to capitalize. Trevor Easton led the offense with 96 yards rushing on 12 carries. Todd Stekl was 5-12 passing for 61 yards. Defensively, Austin Messmer had 14 tackles and Blake Mesmer had 10 tackles. Next action for the Blackhawks is this Friday, October 5 as they host Wolsey-Wessington in Wessington Springs for the Wessington Springs homecoming.  This game will air on KOKK.

From Mr. Gross: Sanborn Central FFA's own Josh Feiner and Cordell Nicholson were two of 140 SD FFA members from 47 FFA chapters to earn an FFA jacket through the South Dakota FFA Foundation Blue Jackets: Bright Futures Program.  Jackets were sponsored by various individuals through the SD FFA Foundation program designed to give young SD FFA members a chance to earn their own FFA jacket instead of purchasing one.  FFA members filled out the Blue Jackets Bright Futures FFA Jacket Program application, answering four short essay questions about their FFA experience and goals.  Congrats Josh and Cordell!

From Tracy Moody: A huge THANK YOU to everyone from Sanborn Central and Woonsocket who helped with the volleyball tournaments and the concession stands this past week!  You have no idea how appreciative I am for the volunteers that helped me to survive this past week, what a great showing of community support!  Thanks again.
