SANBORN CENTRAL E-NEWS
 
In football action Friday night, the Blackhawks beat Highmore-Harrold, 52-20, earning their first win of the season. The Blackhawks opened the scoring mid-way through the first quarter with a 45 yard TD pass from Todd Stekl to Trevor Easton. Later in the 1st quarter the Blackhawks struck again when Todd Stekl hit Jevon Hohn for 6 yard TD pass. The Blackhawks scored 4 TDs in the 2nd quarter. Trevor Easton and Tyler Krueger scored on TD runs. Trevor Easton also scored 2 other TDs on fumble returns. The first fumble return went 36 yards and the second fumble return went for 98 yards. The score was 46-0 at halftime. In between Highmore-Harrold TDs in the 4th quarter, Ty Swenson scored for the Blackhawks on a 50 yard carry. Offensively, Todd Stekl was 2-4 passing for 51 yards and 2 TDs. Trevor Easton had 77 yards rushing on 7 carries. Landon Ochsner and Trevor Easton each had 8 tackles to lead the defense. Tucker Kingsbury and Cole Wormstadt each had interceptions. Next the Blackhawks travel to SBA on Friday, September 21 for a 2:00 p.m. game.

There will be a Punt, Pass & Kick Competition on Thursday, September 27 at the Wessington Springs Football Field. This is for girls and boys ages 6-15. The competition begins at 6:00 p.m. There will be an instructional and practice period at 5:30 p.m. for those interested. To register, please return the entry form (link below) to Coach Kolousek no later than Tuesday, September 25.
 
 
5/6th BASKETBALL SCHEDULE CHANGE: The 5/6th Boys CBH Tournament that was originally scheduled for Saturday, October 20 has been moved to Saturday, October 13 at 9:00 a.m. The 5/6th games that were scheduled for October 13 have been postponed, and may or may not be rescheduled.
 
There will not be any cheerleading practice this week.
 
Volleyball practices are at Sanborn Central this week.
 
From Mr. Gross: Student who would like to be in FFA but are not enrolled in an ag class this semester need to stop by my room or email me and let me know by Friday, September 21.Students who wish to be FFA members must be enrolled in at least one semester of an ag education class.

TODAY - MONDAY:
 
There will be a Blood Drive at Sanborn Central today.
 
Picture retakes are scheduled for this afternoon at 2:00 p.m.  Please return your original packet to either Mrs. Danek or Mary, no later than this morning, if you would like retakes taken.
 
There is a JH Football Jamboree in Wolsey this afternoon starting at 4:00 p.m. (6th graders will not play until 6:00 p.m.) The player bus will leave from Sanborn Central at approximately 2:30 p.m. A complete schedule can be obtained by clicking the link below, or by clicking on the link contained within this calendar entry at www.sanborncentral.com or on the Sanborn Central mobile app.

TUESDAY:
 
The 5/6th girls and boys have basketball practice after school on Tuesday in Woonsocket.
 
The Lady Blackhawks play volleyball against Wolsey/Wessington at Wolsey on Tuesday. The C girls start at 5:15 p.m. (no JH), followed by JV and 6:30 p.m. and Varsity when they’re finished. The player bus will leave from Sanborn Central at 3:45 p.m.

WEDNESDAY:

THURSDAY:
 
Eligibility and Homework Club will be calculated on Thursday.
 
The 5/6th girls and boys have basketball practice after school on Thursday at Sanborn Central.
 
The Lady Blackhawks have home volleyball games on Thursday against Iroquois at Sanborn Central. The JH girls will play at 5:15 p.m., the JV girls at 6:30 p.m. and the Varsity girls when they’re finished.
 
The Pep Band is scheduled to play on Thursday night.
 
Rebel Booster Club concession stand workers for Thursday are John and Gayle Bechen, Jeff and Melissa Wormstadt, and Clint and Michelle Wormstadt.

FRIDAY:
 
There is no school on Friday.
 
Friday is Extra Help Day. Students that have missing assignments or need extra help will need to be at school on Friday morning. Parents of students with missing assignments will be called on Thursday.
 
The WWSSC Blackhawks play football on Friday at Sunshine Bible Academy at 2:00 p.m.

SATURDAY:
 
There will be a JV Football Jamboree in Wessington Springs on Saturday morning starting at 9:00 a.m.
 
 
The Lady Blackhawks JH team will be participating in the JH Volleyball Tournament at James Valley Christian in Huron on Saturday. SCW’s first match will be against Mt. Vernon/Plankinton – Silver at 9:00 a.m.

SUNDAY:
 
Buckshots will be sponsoring a Co-Ed Softball Tournament in Letcher on Sunday starting at 11;00 a.m. Letcher Summer Youth parents will be selling food and drinks to raise money for the Little League program.
