A Note From Mrs. Gassman
Good morning Sanborn Central Elementary parents and guardians!

The South Dakota "Week of Work" is quickly approaching - April 7-11th! This week is devoted to providing all students with the opportunity to learn about different careers and to educate them on the endless possibilities that their future could hold!

During the "Week of Work" in my weekly guidance lessons with the elementary school students I will be focusing on career awareness and development. During this year's Week of Work, we would also like to invite you as parents and guardians, to come into the school and talk with your child's class about your career! If you would like to do so, please contact your child's teacher to schedule a day/time during the week of April 7-11 to come into the classroom and talk about your career. Grandparents are also welcome to participate in this event.

You can bring props, a book, or just come and talk to the students about what you do on a daily basis at your job! I am sure the kids will have lots of questions for you, but here are some things you could address when talking to your child's class about your career:

-Job duties
-Job expectations
-Work environment
-Education necessary to be in your career
-What inspired you to go into this career
-Your education and/or training background
-Skills necessary to do your job
-What things do you like about your job

We hope to see lots of family members engaged in the Week of Work this year! If you have any questions about the Week of Work, please reach out to me via email Logan.Gassman@k12.sd.us. If you would like to schedule a day/time to come into the classroom to talk to your children's class about your career, please schedule this with your child's classroom teacher via Class Dojo or email.

In addition to this, I would also like to extend an invitation for you to participate in the Week of Work event I am hosting for our Sanborn Central middle school and high school students on Wednesday, April 9th at 10:00-11:00 AM in Forestburg at the Sanborn County 4-H Building. We are looking for volunteers to be a part of a career panel where our students will be in the crowd asking the panel members about their career. If you would be willing to be a volunteer on the career panel or would like more information on this event, please send me an email - Logan.Gassman@k12.sd.us.
