Both the boys and girls teams battled hard last night, but both were defeated. The girls game ended in a final of 49-47 an the boys 65-40.

Devoted Students

Devoted Students is open to all SC/W 7th through 12th grade students - we would love to see some new faces! Plan to attend on Friday, February 7th @ 6:00 p.m. We will meet in Mrs. Rodriguez’s room with a breakfast for January and a supper for February followed by a study. Please RSVP by letting either of us know, or by sending us a quick message, so we can plan an appropriate amount of food. Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you there! 🙂

There will also be a fundraiser for Brady Larson during this game, activities for kids, coloring games, half time hoops, mini hoops for 9 and under and a free throw shoot for 10 and older.
Half court shot opportunity, the first person to make a half court shot wins $90. A $2 a taco or free will donation meal will take place sponsored by Taco Johns of Huron starting at 12:30PM and running until gone!

Parent/Student Portal

Parent and students grades 5th and up the opportunities are endless with Student/Parent Portal.  You can access current and missing assignments, report cards, schedules, grades, calendars, attendance records etc.  As you student progresses with school and higher level grades it is important for the parents and students to be able to access important school information from home.  Children will have their own portal, and the parent’s portal is separate from the student’s portal. Please contact Laura in the office if do not currently have a portal.

A note from Mr. Flatten

There has been added interest in a voucher program in the state of South Dakota. This program allocates state funds for tuition fees that can be used at schools other than public schools. The Sanborn Central School Board and I stand in opposition to school vouchers unless the same accountability and reporting are also required from those receiving the voucher. Parents Night for the girls will be on Friday, February 14th vs Harold-Highmore at Woonsocket. The boys parents night will remain on February 28th vs Wessington Springs at SC.

Fifth and sixth grade volleyball sign up forms for the 2025 spring season are ready. Forms will be handed out to 5/6th girls to let coaches know you are interested. Please fill out the following form and return to Laura Licht in the office.

Community

The Hunt is On-Brady is a graduate of Sanborn Central and is currently attending Mitchell Technical College for ag business. Brady was diagnosed in December with Sever Aplastic Anemia, a rare and serious condition that occurs when your body stops producing enough new blood cells. It is anticipated that Brady will have to undergo a bone marrow transplant this year as part of his treatment. Forms are due back February 14th
