Thursday, October 17th 2024-Blue Day

The VB ladies will travel to Kimball this evening vs. Kimball-White Lake with a 4:00 start. The 2JH teams will start the night off with a C, JV, V game to follow. The bus will depart from SC at 2:30

Tomorrow is football Friday with a 7PM kickoff vs MVP at Mt. Vernon. Burgers, hot dogs, chips and desserts will be served from 5:30PM to kickoff for a free will donation with proceeds going toward improvements to the Mt. Vernon School Playground.
Tailgate Information

Good luck to the 5/6 B-Ball teams. They play at SC vs. JVC. The girls will begin at 6:00 and the boys will follow at 7:00.

First quarter report cards will go home on Friday, October 25th

Lunchroom News: 
Sanborn Central is seeking a responsible Lunchroom Substitute to ensure smooth lunchroom operations and provide a positive dining experience for students. Responsibilities include meal preparation, serving food, maintaining cleanliness, and supporting regular staff. Infinite Campus parent and student portal-MS and HS parent and students that do not have  a portal through infinite campus please talk to Laura in the office. This portal is a helpful tool to allow you to follow along with school year progress from grades, attendance, assignments and more!

Extra Curricular
If you are going to the KWL volleyball game tomorrow please consider donating an item to take the place of admission.
The Kimball FCCLA will be collecting donations for Domestic Violence Shelters on October 17th instead of collecting admission for the KWL/SCW VB game.
Donations will go to the Safe Place of Eastern South Dakota and Missouri Valley Crisis Center.
Items that are in high demand include
Paper towels, Knorr pasta and rice sides, big bottles of juice, canned veggies, garbage bags, pasta sauce, gift cards for gas, groceries, hair salons, office supplies etc. canned fruit, cereal, and tuna helper.
Items needed for emergency kits include
Sizes S-M-L-XL-2XL, T-shirts, light jacket, sweatpants, sports bra, socks, underwear, hair ties, combs/brushes, toothbrush and toothpaste, body wash, shampoo and conditioner, bath sponges, and reusable bags.
The makeup date with Howard for volleyball will be Monday, Oct. 28.
The C match will start at 5:00, followed by JV and V.
There will be no junior high games as there season has ended and they are starting basketball.

Notes from Mrs. Gassman (Miss Amundson)
October 1st kicks off the start of South Dakota's Free College Application Period. From October 1st to November 30th our high school seniors can apply to any college in South Dakota for FREE!

ACT Prep Sessions
Mrs. Wilson, Ms. Farrell-Poncelet, and Mrs. Olson-VanWinkle will have all the sophomores, juniors, and seniors take the ACT practice test for each subject during their regular class time.

To review the questions/answers, we will have two review sessions held during the regular school day.

On Wednesday, October 23rd (orange day) during 3rd block, all sophomores, juniors and seniors will report to Ms. Farrell-Poncelet's room for the reading and English ACT review session.

On Friday, October 25th (orange day) during 1st block, all sophomores, juniors, and seniors will report to Mrs. Wilson's room for the math and science ACT review session.
Thank you so much for your cooperation with these ACT prep sessions!

The district ACT will be held on Tuesday, October 29th at 8:15. The cost is $55.50 per student, and payment can be made with cash or check made out to "Sanborn Central School". Please return payment to Mrs. Gassman. Mrs. Wilson, Mrs. Olson-VanWinkle, and Ms. Farrell-Poncelet will have the sophomores, juniors, and seniors take a practice ACT test in each subject (math, science, reading, and english) during their regular class period. The review sessions will be held on Wednesday, October 23rd during 3rd block (reading and english in Ms. Farrell-Poncelet's room) and Friday, October 25th during 1st block (math and science in Mrs. Wilson's room).

The juniors will be taking the ASVAB on Tuesday, November 12 at 8:30 AM. (**Please note this date change as it has changed from October 22 to November 12).

The seniors will be taking the NCRC on Monday, November 18 at 8:30 AM.

The Town N Kountry Kids Blue 4-H group will be hosting    “ Pheasant Opener Weekend Breakfast”  on Sunday October 20th, 2024 at the Letcher Community Center  from  8 am to Noon.

Artesian Area WWTS to present Program
The Artesian Area WWTS will have a Bible based Halloween program on Wednesday, Oct. 30th at 5:00 pm at the Artesian First Lutheran Church. The kids will sing songs and read and portray Bible stories with corresponding snacks to go along with the stories. All are welcome especially parents and grandparents. We are looking forward to a time of fun and fellowship.

Letcher American Legion Auxiliary hosting a Veterans Pot Luck supper Sunday November 10 at 5:30 . All veterans and their families welcome. Bring a dish to share and come support  our Veterans.

Also:  Letcher Legion Auxiliary is having a blood drive Monday November 11 from 2:30 to 6 pm at the Letcher community center. If you wish to donate call Sandi Ruml 770-0678.
