Orange Day – No Tutoring
Happy Birthday Noah Wormstadt!
Congratulations to Mrs. Miller and family – Martha an 8# 21” little girl joined their family late Friday afternoon.
There won’t be tutoring until Mrs. Miller returns.

It’s school board week.  Sanborn Central is very fortunate to have school board members of the caliber we do - Brenda Schmit, Troy Olson, Justin Enfield, Clayton Dean, and Curtis Adams.  These people don’t receive pats on the back very often for donating their time and energy to our district, so if you see one please let them know how much we appreciate them!

Congratulations to the MS Valentine candidates and Princess Chloe Degen and Prince Cayden Slykhuis.

Good luck to our JH and C teams today.  They travel to Plankinton (using split courts) for games starting at 4:00.  The JH teams will play first followed by the C teams.  Please dismiss the players from class at 2:35.

Congratulations to the 6th girls travelling team.  They won 1st in their Division at the Huron Presidents Day Tournament on Saturday.

Congratulations to Tater Moody and Kaylee White for wins in their age groups at the District KC Free Throw contest.  Once other districts report their winners to state, we will know if either of these advances to state competition

ATHLETICS
In girls action last night we beat James Valley Christian 57-34.  Leaders were: Myah Selland 28 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists and 4 steals; Abby Doering 9 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists; and Tayla Weber 8 points, 2 rebounds and 3 steals.

The Boys Blackhawks earned a pair of wins over the weekend as they defeated Highmore/Harrold 58-50 on Friday night and turned around on Saturday afternoon and beat Parkston by a score of 73-55. Leaders in the Highmore/Harrold game were: Dillon-15pts,9 reb, 1 ast    Trevor-6 pts, 2 reb, 1 ast    Tucker-2 pts,8 reb, 5 ast    Trent- 6 pts,3 reb, 3 ast, 1 st     Josh-5 pts,1 reb, 2 ast    Garrett L-2 pts   Brady-18 pts, 15 reb, 3 blk    Rex-3 pts   Wyatt-1 pt,1 reb.  We shot 21/49 for 43% FG and 14/28 FT for 50%.  We had 39 reb and 11 turnovers.  Coach Olson’s comments:  We figured we would have a battle up there in a tough environment.  They are an athletic and explosive team that will shoot well at home.  I thought we were good defensively and really had to work for our points on our end.  We took good care of the ball but we need to make our FT’s.  These are points that expand leads or lose them.
In the Parkston game leaders were: Trey- 2 pts   Dillon-21 pts,3 reb,1 ast, 1 st    Trevor- 9 pts,1 reb, 3 ast    Tucker-7 pts, 6 reb,6 ast, 3 st   Trent- 4 pts, 3 ast, 3 st    Josh-11 pts,3 reb, 5 ast   Logun- 1 reb   Jastyn- 2 pts, 1 reb    Garrett L-1 reb   Brady-16 pts, 5 reb,2 blk   Rex- 1 reb    Wyatt-1 reb, 2 ast, 1 st     We shot 29/52 FG for 56%, 9/16 on 3-pointers for 56%, and 5/8 FT for 63%.  We had 21 reb and 9 turnovers.  We had 20 assists on our 29 FG.  Coach Olson’s comments:  I didn’t know what to expect after getting home after midnight on Friday and turning around and playing at 1:00 but the boys showed what kind of competitors they are.  We really wanted to pressure the ball up the floor because they have 2 really good inside players.  Our defense again played well throughout and our ball movement the 2nd half was very good getting us some clean looks both inside and out.  We play Mitchell Christian on Thursday for a chance to win the strong CBH conference outright.

Concession stand workers for Thursday, February 18th are: – Brett and Kelly Selland, Lincoln and Vickie Fox, Lynell Jessen and Jim, Stacy and Ivy Senska, Dave and Christie Ruml, Curtis and Sara Adams
