The office at Sanborn Central will be closed on Friday, May 26th and also on Monday, May 29th (Memorial Day). Tuesday, May 30th summer hours (9:00am-2:00pm) will begin.

If you heard a rumor that there would be weight lifting next week at SC – plans changed. Coach Flatten will be busy with track practice as we have several Blackhawks headed to state!

Congratulations to the Blackhaw track team members going to State (May 26th-27th in Sioux Falls)!   
      Boys Individuals: Logun Feistner will compete in the 100 & 200. Spens Schlicht will compete in 300M Hurdles.
      Boys Relays: 1600 Medley (Logun Feistner, Wyatt Feistner, Spens Schlicht, & Trey Weber) 3200 Relay (Trey Weber, Jared Goldammer, Austin Schmit, & Spens Schlicht)
      Girls Individual: Myah Selland will compete in the Triple Jump, High Jump, 300M Hurdles, & 800M. 
      Girls Relays: 1600 Medley (Trinity Boschee, Megan Poyer, Caycee Guinn, & Ellie VonEye) Alternate: Taylor Lindsey

Practice schedule for track. Monday & Tuesday 9am at Mt. Vernon. Wednesday 9 am at Woony.

Just a reminder that athletes in grades 7th, 10th, as well as any new athlete will need physicals before the athletic season begins.  You can schedule a physical with your doctor at any time.  Physical forms can be found at 
8th, 9th, 10th,11th, 12th 

Don't forget about off season training with Coach Flatten for anyone and everyone grades 7-12!

·         Event dates will only be June 20-21
o    Not through the 23rd as had been stated earlier
·         The FFA chapter will pay for registration and rooms
·         Open to incoming 8th – 12th graders
o    Must be planning on taking Ag in the coming school year

The Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (ABE) is offering two exciting focus areas at South Dakota State University’s Fishback Summer Scholars Program this summer. Talented and motivated high school students are immersed in one week of “college life” in Brookings, SD. Students explore academic and research experiences as well as enrichment and social programs designed to help prepare for the next step in their intellectual, personal and professional development.

The two options for specialized focus areas offered by our department include:
·         Precision Agriculture
·         Water and Environment protection through good engineering

This year’s Summer Scholar opportunity is July 9-14, 2017.  More information can be found at

I Believe-We Believe-Memorial 5K Run/Walk
Registration Due Friday, May 26th
We will be doing a run/walk again this year during Letcher Alumni weekend. This year our walk will be for Childhood Cancer. We will be doing the event In Memory of Tanna and In Honor of Paisley King.  The run/walk will be held on Saturday June 10th at 10:00 a.m. in Letcher! We hope to see everyone there!
