Congratulations to the SCMS Valentine Coronation candidates- Samantha Dean, Chloe Degen, Katie Schmit, Tater Moody, Cayden Slykhuis, and Aiden Wormstadt.  Coronation is tonight at 6:30.  The dance ends promptly at 9:00 so be sure your parents are here to pick you up at 9:00!!!!

Congratulations to all who participated in the vocal contest yesterday in Kimball. Tamra received an excellent rating on her solo, and the mixed vocal group received a superior rating with a perfect rating of 35 out of a possible 35 points! You represented the Sanborn Central music department well.

Logan Effling & Byron Jessen's business, Citronets, finished 4th in the South Dakota Bankers Association Business Plan Competition.  They received $300 dollars and got the opportunity to meet several state bankers and state representatives.  They represented Sanborn Central very well.

February 17th is the CBH Academic Fest – we are so proud to have these students represent us!!!!   Madi Moody & Austin Schmit in Algebra I, Trent Kingsbury & Catherine Bechen in Algebra II, Kayla Olson and Byron Jessen in Geometry, Garrett Dean and Myah Selland in Senior Math, Madi Moody and Sawyer Senska in Physical Science, Tamra Mann and Bailey Moody in Biology, Dillon Moore and Logun Feistner in Chemistry, Renee’ Farmer and Abby Vermeulen in Grammar I, Catherine Bechen and Koby Larson in Grammar II, Logun Feistner and Trevor Olson in Grammar III, Tom Hetland and Logan Effling in Grammar IV, Byron Jessen and Kayla Olson in Literature III, Breanne Brandenburg and Bailey Moody in Literature IV, Clayton Sewall and Abby Vermeulen in Accounting, Koby Larson and Sarah Morgan in World Geography, Maddie Vermeulen and Breanne Brandenburg in American History, Tucker Kingsbury and Logan Effling in American Government. In team competition Myah Selland, Byron Jessen, Logan Effling, and Tom Hetland will represent us.

Parent Teacher Conferences are tomorrow from 8:00am to 12:30pm.  If your parent can’t attend, but would like to visit with the teachers, please ask them to call or e-mail them.  Student whose parents confer with the teachers will be given bonus points in that class.  The deadline for receiving bonus points will be noon on February 19th.

The Woonsocket and SC Boosters are selling Blackhawk apparel.  The deadline is today!!!!!  Checks can be made to the SC Booster Club.  Order forms are available in the office and in the Google drive under the Athletics tab or by following this link:

It’s a busy weekend for basketball!  Tomorrow the JV & Varsity teams travel to Highmore.  To my knowledge there is no broadcast of these games.

Saturday the varsity boys play Parkston at 1:00 in the Corn Palace.  KOOL 98 will be broadcasting that game.

Monday the girls host JVC and we know these games will be aired on Santel and Woonsocket’s cube.

The Schedule for the DWU/Culvers Classic on Saturday, February 13th has been uploaded to our Google Drive.  We play Parkston at 1:00

JVC does not have enough girls that can play a 4PM game now so the schedule has changed for next Monday, February 15ht  at Woonsocket - 5:15PM- JH, 6:30PM- JV, 7:45PM- Varsity

The schedule for the MS Round Robin to be held on February 20th at SC has been uploaded to our Google Drive – Athletics – Basketball

COMMUNITY
Coach Baruth has been cancer free for 10 years, but unfortunately his Melanoma has returned. The David Olson Memorial Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament will be held on February 20th at the Artesian Community Center.  This event is hosted by the Artesian Fire Department.  Join them for supper and an evening of fun!
