Notes from Mrs Gassman

PreACT 8/9 for freshmenTuesday, April 14th at 8:30 AM.

The University of South Dakota Knudson School of Law will be hosting its “Law Camp” via Zoom on April 15th from 2:00 – 4:30 CST. Law Camp will introduce various degree programs and careers connected with the law in South Dakota. It is open to all high schoolers and there is no cost to participate.

With presenters from a variety of legal careers, students will have a chance to hear about the career path and opportunities of judges, lawyers, probation officers, law enforcement officers, court clerks, court reporters, professionals working with diversion and specialty courts, and other parts of the legal system. It will include representatives from careers that require either two- or four-year degrees along with graduate programs like law school.

Law Camp will be an interesting and exciting chance to learn about legal careers. USD Knudson School of Law Dean Neil Fulton said, “I developed an interest in the law because I got to meet people working in legal careers while I was in high school. I really hope that Law Camp provides a similar spark to another generation of South Dakota students.”

Registration for individual attendees may be completed online. If you are interested in having a group of students participate in Law Camp, please contact Katey Ulrich at Katey.A.Ulrich@usd.edu for details and registration. Please feel free to pass this email along to any other teachers that may have interested students!

My name is Jayden Halsey, and I'm an assistant camp director for The South Dakota Wildlife Federation's [SDWF] youth conservation camp.
For the last 61 years, SDWF has made this camp available to South Dakota teens to not only introduce them to the outdoors, but also to open wide the door to new hobbies, learn skills and trades for possible vocations in conservation and wildlife to preserve our state heritage!

This camp held in the Black Hills is about more than getting kids outside—it's about learning how to give back to their communities, too! Year after year, these kids end up building lifelong friendships with others from across the state, and it's so incredible to see.

Our organization, as a non-profit, is known as South Dakota Wildlife Federation Youth Conservation Camp.
SDWF is an affiliate of the National Wildlife Federation, the largest conservation organization in the world. The close working relationship between the state and national organizations ensures effective, coordinated conservation action at all levels of government.

For over sixty-five years, SDWF has been leading the fight to protect the interests of South Dakota’s current and future outdoor sports enthusiasts.

This camp is just one small part of the greater mission of SDWF, but it is incredibly impactful to those who have attended in the past, and they have a BLAST!

Our web page can give you a little more insight to the camp itself, and that can be found at www.sdwf.org/camp
