ATHLETICS
The Blackhawks Boys season came to an end with a 77-76 loss
to JVC in semifinal district play. Their season ends with a record of
17-4. Helping were: Trey- 1 ast, Dillon- 24 pts, 13 reb, 2
ast Tucker- 10 pts,8 reb, 2 ast, 1 st
Trent- 5 pts,2 reb, 3 ast, 1 st Josh- 9 pts, 3 reb, 5
ast, 1 st Brady- 28 pts, 9 reb, 2 st, 1
blk Rex- 2 pts, 2 st, 1 blk Wyatt-1
blk We shot 30/62 FG for
48% 3/12 3-pt FG for 25% 13/16 FT for
81%. We were outrebounded 41-35 and had 14 turnovers.
Coach Olson’s comments: “Aggressive teams win” was our theme for
postseason and we were the aggressors in building a lead through 3 qts.
In the late 3rd quarter they went small lineup out of necessity and we could
not get the right personnel or defense in place to guard them. JVC hit
some long shots, some tough shots, and attacked the rim. They grabbed the
wave of momentum and rode it to the end. Our boys continued to fight but
came up a basket short in continuing our journey.
Season outlook: The boys team won the CBH conference outright
(5-0) and tied in a 3-way race (7-1) for the 281 conference. The 17 wins
ties the record made 2 years ago and the last 3 years the team has gone 48-16
for a 75% win record. Seniors: will be greatly missed. These
boys (Dillon, Brady, Tucker, Garrett Larson, Josh, Rex, and Jastyn) have been a
major part of our program and the success it has had the last few years.
We ask for a great deal of commitment from players and this group has my utmost
respect in positioning this program with the top teams in the
state. Underclassmen: The younger players
have worked just as hard and are excited to show their talents as well next
year. This group has been waiting in the wings but they understand they
must continue to build their skills. All 34 players have been
a fun group to help coach this year and I’m sure have been a great source of
entertainment and pride for our Blackhawk community.
Blackhawk Fans are paving
victory lane for the ladies with a Pep Rally Friday, March 4th at
2:30 in Woonsocket before they take on Castlewood at the Huron arena. HS students will ride the bus to and from –

Dr. Seuss……..“Why fit in when you were born to stand
out?” This applies to all
of us, we were all born to stand out in our own unique way. Unfortunately it’s
very easy to fit in, do what everyone else is doing, and get what everyone else
gets. Standing out can come in many forms, you can give a standout performance,
or you can simply hold ideas and beliefs that are uncommon and go against the
grain. So don’t be content just to do things the way everyone else is doing it,
stand out like you were meant to!
