Orange Day – Character Counts Week

Today the halls at SC are full of purple because we are good “Citizens”.  We are on a mission to “Recycle, Reuse, and Reduce”!  Other items on our Agenda for today include picking up litter around the school, taking shredded paper to the pet store, and donating pop tabs to the Ronald McDonald House!  -You can’t believe the amount of Pop Tabs that were brought into the office already. 

Tomorrow we will wear Orange for Fairness!

Today the VB team hosts Corsica/Stickney at the SC gym (Knigge/Harless).  The C girls hit the floor at 5:15 followed by the JV and V.   7/8^th gals will practice prior to the C match.  You can watch these games on our Santel Channel 107 (if the camera cooperates)

A rep from USD will be here about 11:30 today.

3^rd and 4^th Boys Ball forms are due today.

HS FB @ Woonsocket today.

Also, all JH FB players should work with coaches at their schools to get their equipment checked in. 

We would also like to congratulate the Blackhawk JH team and their coaches, Will Walker and Kyle Gerlach, on a very successful season.

Parents of 8^th grade students: As part of Bully prevention month we will be making efforts to reduce bullying, aggressive and mean behavior in Sanborn Central school district, we are planning a special movie experience in 8^th grade guidance to view the documentary movie, BULLY.  A form will be sent home with your child granting permission to watch the movie.  Students without a signed permission slip returned by October 24^th will not be allowed to watch the movie.  In the event that yours doesn’t make it home it can be found at https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxqWDgwTHOqebENvbk9zZGhJRVE/view?usp=sharing

ATHLETICS

Cancer shirt Orders are due today - The VB Gals will be hosting a Cancer Awareness Night on Tuesday, October 24^th in Woonsocket.  Proceeds will go to Cathy Hegge and Coach Baruth.  Below is a link for the T-shirts that are being sold.  Checks can be made out to Whites Screen Printing.  Orders must be in by the 16^th!  https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxqWDgwTHOqeNHRZaFU3YVFYOTg/view?usp=sharing

The VB team travels to Tulare tomorrow for a 5:15 start – JH/JV-V    The bus will leave SC at 3:40.  These games can be seen on  Venture Communications Cooperative channel 384 and on http://httv.live starting at 5:15 pm. 

Reminder for 5-6 BB at Woonsocket tomorrow night that the boys have to play first at 6:00 pm and then girls at 7:00 pm.  They host springs in Woonsocket.

3rd/4th Grade Girls Basketball​-- sign up forms need to be returned to the office no later than Wednesday, October 18^th. 

The Blackhawks will host MVP in Springs Thursday evening in the first round of FB playoffs.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00pm.  We have been informed that Q107 will be broadcasting the game.   http://q107radio.com/   

The Blackhawk Parents will be serving both teams on Thursday Night after the football game.  Sanborn Central Parents- 1 pan of bars dropped off at the Springs Gym prior to the game Thursday. (If you can’t drop them off contact Lynette Kingsbury)

MUSIC

The following students will be attending the All-State Chorus workshop at DWU on Tuesday, October 17^th:  Lucy N, Ellie K, Alexis K, Katie M, Kendra M, Dayton E, Harley K, and Leighton T.  The bus will depart from Woonsocket at 7:30 am and from Sanborn Central at 7:45 am.

T-Hugs – the organization that takes cancer related T-shirts and turns them into comforting throws/quilts for people receiving cancer treatment is always looking for shirts and cash donations.  Cash donations are used to purchase stabilizer, fleece, thread, etc.  Currently Sanborn Central School, Woonsocket School, Zesto in Mitchell, and The Lounge - American Legion Post 14 in Wessington Springs are drop offs. Veterans Day dinner Sunday November 12, 2017 at 12pm at the Artesian Community Center.  The dinner is free for veterans and all others we ask a free will donation.  The dinner is sponsored by the Artesian American Legion Auxiliary and Legion.  Please RSVP to Laura Pearson at 605-999-2139 if you are planning on attending.
