Happy Teacher Appreciation Week - Mrs. Whitney has declared the rest of the school year as School Spirit Week!

Rumor has it that several members of our JH Rodeo team are sporting new “Belt Buckles” after their regional rodeo in Huron this weekend!  We are so proud of each and every one of you – hard work does pay off!

Good Luck to the JH and Freshman track team as they participate in the 281 Conference meet today.  Leaving at noon are: Abby V, Chloe D, Katie S, Samantha D, Cassidy S, Aiden W, Cayden S, Tater M, Austin S, Sawyer S, Alex W, and Eric R.
No Elementary PE due to the JH track meet.

HS track will have joint practice at WOONY today.

“You Look Marvelous” tryouts are after school today.  Students trying out must have their parent permission forms signed and turned in.

ACADEMICS
Awards night is quickly approaching – May 9th.  Seniors will bring Desserts, Juniors Salads, Sophomores Main Dish, Freshman Main dish, 8th grade Salads, 7th grade Desserts, and 6th grade Main Dishes.  Staff may bring a salad or dessert.

The final MS Updates for the year have been uploaded to our Google Drive.

I am curious as to how the Campus notifications for missing assignments worked.  One parent did respond that they got it and was glad to see the entire list.   If you have any comments regarding the notification please feel free to share with me.   Mary.ackman@k12.sd.us

ATHLETICS
The bus for the Miller track meet will leave at 9:00am tomorrow morning with Austin S, Sawyer S, Koby L, Weston B, Logun F, Alex W, Eric R, Abby V, Catherine B, Kayla O, Maddie V, and Sarah M on it.  Good Luck one and all!!!!

Attending the Golf meet in Springs tomorrow (leaving Woony at noon) are: Trevor Olson, Trent Kingsbury, Dillon Moore, and Garrett Dean.

FFA
The FFA Banquet is tonight in Woonsocket.  An exciting recap of the year with some great food -  Freshmen – Main Course, Sophomores – Main Course, Juniors – Side and Dessert, Seniors – Side and Dessert.  FFA members must be in Official Dress for the FFA Banquet.

Mr. Gross is seeking a Letcher FFA Jacket for permanent or long term display in the Ag Room.  Please contact him at the school.   Shane.gross@k12.sd.us

The FFA has two National FFA bronze awards from the Sanborn Central FFA Horse Judging team from 2005.  If you know who should have these, please contact Mr. Gross.

Mr. Gross will be putting on an informational night for parents about Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAEs).  This informational night will cover the following:
          What is an SAE
          The types of SAEs (Entrepreneurship, Placement, or Agribusiness)
          The expectations of SC/W FFA members as related to SAEs (during the school year and the summer)
          How to access the record keeping system the FFA uses (www.theaet.com)
          How to enter basic SAE records
          FFA awards from SAE projects (proficiency awards, SD FFA Star awards)
More information will be released next week on the specifics on date(s) and location(s). Please email Mr. Gross if you have any questions.

BREAKING NEWS
The removal of the south bleachers and the installation of the new ones is complete.  The decking (flooring) was replaced on the north bleachers, also.  It was simply amazing at how quickly the work was completed and how it makes the gym look so much better.  They started last Wednesday morning about 10:00 and left at 10:00 on Friday morning.  There is a folder of pictures taken during the whole process.  Here is the link:​
