National Convention
SC/W FFA has returned from the National FFA Convention, where they lived out this year’s theme of “I Can. We Will.”  The Meats Evaluation and Technology Team received a Silver Emblem placing.  Team members included Aaron Linke, Nathan Linke, and Jared Goldammer, who all received a Silver Emblem placing as individuals.  The Meats Evaluation and Technology CDE consists of a general knowledge exam; beef carcass evaluation; beef, pork, and lamb retail cut ID; quality and yield grading of beef carcasses; meat merchandising; and a meat formulation problem.  Congrats to Aaron, Nathan, and Jared!

In addition, on Saturday SC/W FFA member Jonathan Linke received his American FFA Degree.  The American FFA Degree is awarded to members who have demonstrated the highest level of commitment to FFA and made significant accomplishments in their supervised agricultural experiences (SAEs).  Each year, less than 1% of FFA members receive this degree, making it one of the organization’s highest honors.  Jonathan is the 10th FFA member in Sanborn County, over the course of 80 years, to have achieved this degree.  Congrats Jonathan!
