Blue Day

Good Luck to the JH Basketball teams as they travel to Howard today.   The 7th girls will tip off at 6:00 followed by the 8th girls at approximately 6:45.  The boys will play at 7:30.  The bus will leave SC at 5:00 today.

Girls will practice at Woonsocket and Boys at SC today.

Winterguard practices at 6:00 in Woonsocket today.

The 6th travelling team will practice at SC at 6:15 today.

Marla will begin her health screenings today.

Academics
To accommodate for lost time, December 22nd we will have a full day of school with Blue Semester Testing, December 21st will be Orange Semester Testing, December 23rd we will dismiss at 11:00 for Christmas Break. 

Athletics
The Blackhawk boys BB team started off their season with an 89-26 win over SBA on Saturday.  Helping the cause were:  Dillon-20 pt,5 reb,2 ast,2 st   Trevor-4 pts,2 ast, 1  st  Josh- 14 pts,1 reb,4 ast, 4 st   Tucker-6 pts,3 reb, 5 ast, 4 st    Brady-18 pts, 9 reb,1 st   Rex -4 pts,5 reb, 2 ast, 2 st     Trey-2 pts,3 reb   Garrett D-1 ast    Trent-8 reb, 3 ast,2 st   Jared-  5 pts,3 reb,1 blk    Jastyn-4 pts, 1 reb   Garret L-8 pts,6 reb   Wyatt-4 pts, 3 reb,1 ast   Shay-3 reb         The boys were 38-73 FG for 52%   13-19  FT for 68% and had 47 reb.   Coach Olson’s comments:  “I thought the boys played a very clean game for the first one out.  We only had 8 turnovers on the day.  We shared the ball well with 20 assists on 38 FG.  SBA is a young team with not much depth but we know the competition is going to get harder in a hurry for us with TDA on Thursday night.  The boys have been itching to get this season started and it was nice to get everyone some playing time.”

Bailey Moody is offering a 5/6th grade volleyball camp consisting of the fundamentals and basic skills of the sport.  A great introduction for all upcoming athletes!  She would like to keep the camp size at approximately 20 participants.  Cost is $25.00 with money being donated to the Sanford Children’s Castle. COMMUNITY
The Artesian Community Improvement Association will be holding their annual Ham drawing/Membership Drive on Friday, December 18th, 2015 at the Artesian Community Center. Supper will be served at 6:30. Drawings and a visit from Santa will follow! Membership dues are $20 a couple and go towards summer youth programs and community events.

Bountiful Baskets has contribution on Monday at 10am and goes until Tuesday 10pm. This will be the last drop for the 2015 year with the next contribution date for the new year of 2016 on Monday January 11 for pickup on the 16th! We would like to thank everyone that has participated in the year 2015 and hope to see many more of you during the 2016 year! Merry Christmas! FFA
FFA Membership Dues ($20) must be paid by the end of the semester!  Anyone who has not paid by the end of the semester will not be attending the Redfield CDEs in March.  Ask Mr. Gross if you are unsure if you have paid or not.

Junior Class Fund Raising
PARKING SPOT BID IS CURRENTLY AT $76.00 and $200.00!  Keep thinking about that long walk from the back of the parking lot when the wind is blowing 75 mph!
The junior class will be starting their annual fundraisers.
1.    We will be selling 20 spots for our Basketball Board.   The cost for a spot on the board is $20.  We will be awarding $25 to winning spots at half-time of every girls and boys Varsity game at Sanborn Central.
          2.  We will also have a silent auction for the 2 parking spots closest to the back doors.  You may start bidding today.  Bidders will be consistently notified of any changes.  Bidding will stop when we leave for Christmas Break – December 23rd at 11:00 am.
To participate in either activity, please contact Tracy Moody at tracy.moody@k12.sd.us or contact a student in the junior class.  Registration for both will end by Christmas break as our first game at Sanborn Central is January 2nd.
