Orange Day
Happy Birthday June 9th Kerstyn Schladweiler!
Regardless of what the score boards showed this weekend – Our Blackhawk Basketball teams are #1 in our book!  You gave us a season that will be talked about for years to come!  Blackhawk Proud we are!!!
The Sanborn Central/Woonsocket FFA attended the District 6 Career Development Events (CDEs) hosted in Redfield last Friday. Our chapter made a very strong showing at this event placing well across the board.  We learned lessons that we are ready to implement for our next CDEs at DeSmet on March 10th.  CDEs help take what is learned in the classroom and apply it in a hands-on competitive setting.  These events reinforce skills that will help students with their future careers whether in or outside of the agriculture industry. District 6 (Redfield) CDEs Results (Top 3 individual scores make up the team score for placing as a team.)Ag Mechanics-10th place team of 21- Tate Ziebart-19th, Ty Ziebart, Ty Swenson, and Aaron Stevens (68 participants); Agronomy-2nd place team of 13 - Jonathan Linke-1st, Nathan Linke-6th, Aaron Linke-9th, Bailey Schmiedt-17th, Tyler Johnson-19th (68 participants); Farm Business Management-5th place team of 13- Jarid Bechen and Garrett Larson-tied for 12th, Dillon Moore-15th, Cole Wormstadt (57 participants); Floriculture-3rd place team of 16 Taylor Burkel-9th, Dayna Opsahl-20th, Lacey Christensen-28th, Destiny Brick-29th (54 participants); Horse Judging-Ashlynne Terkildsen; Meats-4th place team of 9 Drew Olinger-8th, Charlie Enfield-13th, Wyatt Feistner-16th, Riley Schmiedt-26th (36 participants); Natural Resources-5th place team of 17, Shaun Snedeker-11th, Jared Goldammer-17th, Matt Terkildsen-20, Cody Ruml-35th, Shay Swenson, Garrett Dean, Trevor Olson (71 participants); and Veterinary Science-Colton Hotchkiss

The boys Blackhawks ended their season with a 68-50 loss to #1 Wolsey-Wessington in the district championship game.  Helping the cause:  Joe—3 reb, Dillon—6 pts, 5 reb, & 1 blk,  Tucker—7 pts, 2 reb, 5 ast, &1 st,  Josh—22 pts, & 2 reb,  Jarid—2 pts,5 reb, & 1 ast,  Garrett—3 reb & 1 blk,  Brady—13 pts,4 reb, 1 ast & 2 blk.      FG 17/48 for 35% FT 11/17 for 65%   Reb even 24-24 (9 offensives) 8 turnovers Coach Olson’s comments: The boys battled all night. We had to keep scoring with them because they are hard to guard especially when their other kids shoot it like they were.  It was a 4 point game at halftime.  We missed some opportunities late in the 3rd qtr and the lead stretched to 8-10 points and had to extend and play uphill after that.  The boys are disappointed in not winning the district but I’m proud of their effort.   Season:  The boys finished the season 14-8 - playing the toughest schedule yet.  7 teams on our schedule are playing in the region championships 6 B & 1 A team.  I am extremely proud of the boys for how they prepared for top competition game after game.  This district is the hardest in the state to advance (my wish is for the state to re-seed like football).  This will be the third year in a row that our district has a top-2 team with the Class B player of the year in it. Our boys have and continue to put in a lot of summer and season work to compete at this level.  Their hard work and commitment should be recognized.
The bus will leave SC at 8:45 tomorrow morning for the DeSmet CDE’s.  Attending are Cole W, Dillon M, Trevor O, Garrett D, Cody R, Trent K, Catherine B, Sarah M, Tyler J, and Jarid B
