August 5, 2014

CORRECTION:  The Letcher Library and the Town-n-Kountry 4-H Club will be hosting a movie and book night on WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 6th, at the Letcher Community Center.  4-H members will read to the children, a short movie will be watched; drinks and treats will be provided. All you need is to bring yourself! This is open to any area youth ages 2 and up.  Mark your calendar as the fun begins promptly at 7:00 pm.

FB Players from Coach Flatten: There will be a football meeting August 12th at 6:00 pm at Sanborn Central.  We will go over schedules, talk about the upcoming season, and answer any questions.  Parents are encouraged to attend.  Also, I will be handing out football equipment to the players that need it afterwards.

Marching Band from Mr. Kroeger:  II would like to continue on with the new style of parade marching that hopefully the Blackhawks Marching Band will become known for throughout South Dakota and possibly the Midwest. In order to put out a top-notch performance, we will be having a one day camp Saturday August 23rd 11am to 5pm, which will be in Woonsocket. The camp will be used to learn this year’s marching band routine and to start memorizing the music. This will mean that the combined rehearsals we have throughout the school year will be used specifically for perfecting the product the audience will see and hear.  Throughout the camp, students will be fitted for uniforms. Please check and see if you need new shoes or gloves. New shoes with gloves combo will cost $25. New gloves will cost $5. We will begin receiving a surplus of shoes due to people growing out of them so that is another option for students.

Any FFA member wanting to show in the FFA division at the State Fair must contact Mr. Gross for his signature on their forms ASAP.  The deadline to postmark your registration is August 15th.  Those who were not members last year but are planning on being members this year that would like to show may also show.  However, they must let Mr. Gross know to get their papers signed and so that he can let the State Office know to add a new member.  The FFA State Fair book is uploaded to the school's website in the Community folder in the "Forms and Publications" tab or by following this link:
Keep in mind, to be an FFA member you MUST be enrolled in at least 1 semester of an agriculture course for the upcoming 2014-2015 school year.
Email Mr. Gross at shane.gross@k12.sd.us if you have any questions.

Debey Senska Fund Raisers:

Debey has been so quick to bless my family in a time of need and I am sure she has done that for many others over the years! I want to give back to Debey by hosting an online fundraiser Pampered Chef party for her. The Pampered Chef will donate up to 15% of the sales, plus an extra $3 for every cooking, catalog or fundraiser show that is booked with me from this event. I will also donate up to 15% of the sales from this event. As a team, we can bless Debey financially with up to 30% of the sales and help her continue her journey towards full health :-)
Search for me as the host of the fundraiser show. For the orders to count, it must be entered under Debey's show.  Please remember to arrange to have your order shipped to you directly if you do not live in the Artesian area. I will deliver the orders that are located within 50 miles of Artesian.  Message me if you have any questions.  Thanks so much for helping Debey A Senska!!  Jo Oberg
