Beginning Summer 2013, Huron Community Campus will be hosting remedial classes offered through Northern State University in Reading 041, English 033, and Math 021. These courses will be offered at $40 per credit hour (non-discounted tuition is just under $300 per credit hour at any of the SD public universities). These NSU classes transfer and can be used at all SD Board of Regents institutions. The full list of summer and fall classes can be found at the link below. TODAY - FRIDAY:
 
The High School Student of the Month assembly will be held this morning.
 
There will be a meeting today at 11:30 a.m. in Mrs. Moody’s room for all girls in Grades 6-11 that are interested in volleyball next year.
 
Graduation rehearsal will take place this afternoon.
 
Reminder to Seniors: All bills must be paid or you aren’t considered checked out today.
 
All band students are asked to take their personally owned instruments out of the storage room as Mr. Kroeger will be taking inventory today during last block. They cannot be left at the school over summer break.
 
Band students will be able to make up any missed lessons today. Mr. Kroeger will be getting to the school around 9:15 a.m. (following graduation rehearsal at Woonsocket). The school office or Mr. Kroeger has a list of those who need to make up a lesson.
 
Marching Percussion/ Drumline Auditions: All percussion students who will be in band next year need to come to the music room for an individual audition on Friday. Please write down the time you will be coming down on the sign-up sheet in the music room. Full ensemble auditions will take place during band on Friday. These auditions will determine your spot on the drumline for marching band next year.
 
8 and Under baseball will practice in Artesian today at 5:30 p.m.
 
Woonsocket’s graduation will take place tonight at 7:00 p.m.
 
The Sioux Falls Canaries (they switched their name back from the Sioux Falls Pheasants) are hosting the Sioux City Explorers tonight in an exhibition game at Memorial Field in Huron with the first pitch to be thrown out at 7:05 p.m. The Jack Links Tailgate Party begins at 5:00 p.m. A free Youth Baseball Camp will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Klock Field. There are free tickets in the school office available on a first come, first served basis.

SATURDAY:
 
Soccer Saturday will take place at Woonsocket.
 
Sanborn Central’s Graduation will take place on Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.
 
Photography Unlimited will be taking pictures of graduates. Individual pictures start at 2:00 p.m. Group pictures start at 3:15 p.m. for both 8th grade and Seniors.

MONDAY:
 
The Mid-Dakota Track Meet scheduled for Monday at Wessington Springs has been cancelled.
 
The Elementary Book-It Celebration will be held on Monday.
 
Graduation will take place on Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Upland Colony.
 
There will be softball practice on Monday for 8U at 5:00 p.m. and 10U at 6:00 p.m. in Letcher. If you have any questions, please call Tatem at 605-999-4573.
 
The School Board will have their May meeting on Monday at 7:00 p.m.

TUESDAY:
 
Tuesday is Blue Semester Test Day for high school students. They only need to be at school when they are testing (unless otherwise notified).
 
Middle School Discovery Day will be held on Tuesday.
 
Grade 3 will be taking their Pen Pal trip on Tuesday.
 
There will be a Soccer Celebration on Tuesday for ALL soccer teams from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Sanborn Central. Parents are to pick up their students at 5:00 p.m.
 
There will be baseball practice in Letcher on Tuesday for the 10U at 5:30 p.m. and 12U at 6:30 p.m.

WEDNESDAY:
 
Wednesday is the last regular day of classes for the school year.
 
Wednesday is Orange Semester Test Day for high school students. They only need to be at school when they are testing (unless otherwise notified).
 
Pre-K and Kindergarten Celebration will take place at 12:00 noon on Wednesday.
 
Field Day for Pre-K through Grade 6 will be held on Wednesday afternoon starting at 1:00 p.m.
 
The Middle School Quiz Bowl competition will be held on Wednesday.
 
There will be baseball practice in Letcher on Wednesday for 10U at 5:30 p.m. and 12U at 6:30 p.m.
 
Here is the 2013 Yearbook order form. The price is $35.00 each. Personalization adds $5.00 and icons add $2.50. Orders need to be turned in by Wednesday. Yearbooks will be delivered in the fall.
 
 
Sanborn County Farmers Union, the Woonsocket FFA Chapter and the SDSU Extension SD 4-H will conduct a Farm Safety/Day Camp at the 4-H Building in Forestburg on Wednesday, May 22 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for youth ages 6 to 13. Cost of the camp is $5 to include lunch, a snack and a t-shirt. Pre-registration is requested by Wednesday, May 15. For more information, contact Pat Larson at the Woonsocket School. THURSDAY:
 
Thursday will be an Extra Help Day. Only students with missing assignments will be required to attend from 8:00 – 11:00 a.m.
 
The Regional 5B Track Meet will be held in Mitchell on Thursday. Field events start at 10:00 a.m. and running events at 11:00 a.m.

A new shipment of both sizes of Team Tan-Dog bracelets has arrived, so they are now available for sale again in the office at $5 each.
 
There will be a 5K Walk/Run taking place in Letcher on Saturday, June 8 (Letcher Alumni Weekend). Proceeds will benefit Tanna Kingsbury's fight against cancer. Cost is $15 per person which includes a t-shirt. If you would like to order just a t-shirt, they are $15.00. Registration forms are due by Monday, May 20 to Brooke or Riley Zoss, or can be turned in at the Sanborn Central or Woonsocket Schools. Checks should be made payable to the Letcher Community Development Foundation. Holy Spirit Church is sponsoring “Taverns for Tanna” on Saturday, June 1 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the John Paul II Gym. They will be serving taverns, baked beans, chips, assorted desserts and drink. Free will donations will be accepted.
