SANBORN CENTRAL E-NEWS
 
Sanborn Central would like to extend best wishes to Ms. Moeding as she finishes her last day as a student teacher at Sanborn Central.
 
Coborn’s receipts for February, March and April need to be turned in by Monday at the school or at CorTrust Bank in Artesian or Letcher.
 
Here is a link to the letter that is being sent out with lunch bills regarding meals in May. Report cards will not be handed out until payment has been made in full.
 
 
Congratulations to Samantha Dean, Joe Hetland and Trent Kingsbury for knowing that Logan Moody was yesterday’s Mystery Senior who has a nursing career in her future.
 
Here are the results from yesterday’s track meet in Miller. Davion Brooks: Triple Jump – 3rd; Long Jump – 5th; High Jump – 1st (Qualified Davion for State in High Jump); Rex Schlicht: 110 Hurdles – 5th; 300 Hurdles – 2nd; Ashley Schmit: 400 Dash – 5th; Myah Selland: 100 Hurdles – 2nd; 300 Hurdles – 2nd; 400 M Relay: 7th – McKenzy Peterson, Shelby Selland, Tayla Weber, Maddie Vermeulen; Medley Relay: 4th – Shelby Selland, Myah Selland, Ashley Schmit, Maddie Vermeulen.
 
FOUND: A black and gray camera case with goldish/orange lining, Case Logic brand, was found on the bleachers after the concert Monday night. Please contact the school office if it’s yours.

TODAY - WEDNESDAY:
 
Grade 8 will have a CPR workshop today from 12:30 – 3:15 p.m.
 
Grades 2 and 3 will have a Savings presentation today.
 
There will be U8 (4:00 – 5:30 p.m.) and U12 (3:30 p.m.) soccer practice after school today (no U6 due to circus).
 
The Shrine Circus will be performing at the Corn Palace today at 4:30 and 7:15 p.m.

THURSDAY:
 
The Mitchell Christian Invitational Track Meet will be held on Thursday at Joe Quintal Field in Mitchell. Field events start at 4:00 p.m. and running events at 4:30 p.m. The bus will leave at 2:45 p.m.
 
 
Senior Goal Scholarship interviews will take place on Thursday morning starting at 9:30 a.m.
 
FFA Officer Interviews will be held on Thursday after school in the Ag room.
 
Eligibility and Homework Club will be calculated on Thursday.
 
U8 and U12 have soccer games at Wessington Springs on Thursday.
 
Letcher Dumpster Days will run from Thursday through Monday. Two dumpsters will be located in the lot just west of Rossy Park (north of Main Street). Throw your junk away for free (no tires, no trees, no appliances, no batteries). This is sponsored by the Letcher Community Club.

FRIDAY:
 
There WILL be school on Friday. It had originally been designated an Extra Help Day, but is now a regular day of school to make up for a snow day taken earlier. Friday will be a Blue Day for block scheduling.
 
Declaim for Grades 1-4 will take place on Friday.
 
The JH track team will be attending the Hanson JH Track Meet in Alexandria on Friday. Field events will begin at 1:30 p.m. and running events at 3:30 p.m.

There will be baseball practice in Letcher on Friday at 5:30 p.m. for 10U and at 6:15 p.m. for 12U.
 
Friday is the last day to put in your order for “Tan-Dog” t-shirts to benefit the Tanna Kingsbury fund. Payment is due before you can receive your t-shirt. All t-shirts are gray and short-sleeved. Checks should be made payable to Sanborn Central. Here is a link to the order form:

SATURDAY:
 
Soccer Saturday will take place at Sanborn Central.
 
Clean up at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Artesian is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.

SUNDAY:
 
There will be Boys State/Girls State orientation on Sunday at Mitchell Senior High School, 920 N. Capital, Mitchell. Registration starts at 1:00 p.m. and the orientation starts at 2:00 p.m. At least one parent is encouraged to attend with their son or daughter.

MONDAY:
 
The High School play will be presented on Monday with performances at 2:00 and 7:00 p.m.
 
There will be a Blood Drive at Sanborn Central on Monday.
 
There will be a Boy Scout informational meeting on Monday at 12:30 p.m. for Grades K-5.
 
There will be CPR Training for Grade 8 from 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Monday.
 
Track pictures will be taken on Monday starting at 3:30 p.m.

TUESDAY:
 
The 281 Conference Track Meet will be held in Huron on Tuesday. Field events start at 9:30 a.m. and running events at 11:00 a.m. A schedule has not been provided yet.
 
Grade 2 will be taking a field trip to the zoo on Tuesday.
 
There are U6 soccer games at Sanborn Central on Tuesday.
 
U12 will have soccer practice on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
 
The FFA Banquet will be held on Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. Food assignments are as follows: Grade 11 – salad and dessert; Grade 10 – main dish; Grade 9 – main dish. Grade 8 students are not required to attend but are more than welcome to. They may bring a dessert if they wish to attend.
 
Sanborn Central is hosting a Pampered Chef party through Tuesday with proceeds going to the Tanna Kingsbury Benefit Fund. There are order forms and catalogs at the school, or you can order online. Here is a link to the flyer that contains all the specifics:

REMINDERS:
 
The Awards Night and Potluck Supper will be held on Thursday, May 9. Food assignments are: Casserole – Grades 6, 9, 10; Salad – Grades 7, 11; Dessert – Grades 8, 12. Staff may bring either a salad or dessert.

Coach Weber's Round Ball Camp will be held on Monday, June 3 and Tuesday, June 4 in the Woonsocket Gym. Boys/girls in Grades 2-4 next year will have camp from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. each day, and boys/girls in Grades 5-8 next year will have camp from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Cost is $25 which includes a Cooling Performance Blackhawk T-Shirt and Shorts. Registration forms are due at the schools by Thursday, May 9 so t-shirts can be ordered. Make checks payable to Coach Rod Weber.

A quarter of beef and the processing fee at Shorty’s Locker have been donated to the Tanna fundraising effort. Raffle tickets are available for $5 each or 3 for $10 from the following: CorTrust Banks in Artesian and Letcher, Sal’s Drive Inn in Letcher, Forestburg Farmer’s Elevator, Country Pumper, Steve Linke, Tambi Wormstadt, Lincoln Feistner and Vickie Fox. All proceeds will go to the Kingsbury family with Tanna drawing the lucky winner on May 11 at Sanborn Central’s graduation. There will be a 5K Walk/Run taking place in Letcher on Saturday, June 8 (Letcher Alumni Weekend). Proceeds will benefit Tanna Kingsbury's fight against cancer. Cost is $15 per person which includes a t-shirt. If you would like to order just a t-shirt, they are $15.00. Registration forms are due by Monday, May 20 to Brooke or Riley Zoss, or can be turned in at the Sanborn Central or Woonsocket Schools.
