From Coach Flatten - The Sanborn Central/Woonsocket Track Team traveled to Chester to compete in the Region 4B track meet on Thursday, May 17th. Besides qualifying for state by breaking the time standard set by the SDHSAA during a sanctioned meet during the year, the top two place winners at Regions also qualify. SC/W had two participants qualify for state. Trinity Boschee qualified in the 300M Hurdles with 2nd place finish and a personal best 51.03 and Caycee Guinn finished 2nd in the 400M Dash with a time of 1:04.64. Boschee and Guinn will compete Friday in Rapid City. Guinn will compete in the 400M Dash prelims at 1:50 and Boschee has 300M Prelims at 2:15 (Mountain Time). If they both win their heat or have one of the top times, they will compete in finals on Saturday. Guinn comes in seeded 11th out of 16 and Boschee is 9th out of 18 participants.
Overall, the boys finished 8th with 36 team points and the girls compiled 55 points to finish 6th.
(Coaches Comments) “Region 4 was very competitive and we knew we had our work cut out for us to get our athletes to state. Trinity Boschee ran a perfect race and ran 3 seconds faster than in any other high school meet this year to punch her ticket. Caycee came in with one of the top times in the field, but had the second best 400 girl in the state in her heat. The coaches talked strategy with her and she executed it to perfection. She just kept up with that girl as long as she could and outran the rest of the field. We had a few relays get close, but just couldn’t quite get in the top two. Spens Schlicht finished 3rd in the 300M hurdles, Kaylee White finished 3rd in shot put, and our boys 4x800 team also finished 3rd, but we couldn’t be prouder of the effort put forth by the whole team.”

Then followed that beautiful season... Summer....
Filled was the air with a dreamy and magical light; and the landscape
