Wednesday-February 24th (Orange Day)

"You can't buy happiness, but you can buy donuts.  And that's kind of the same thing."  Today the students of SC can support the FFA and purchase a donut for $1.

Junior High will have practice at Woonsocket today and tomorrow.   Jordan will pick the kids up and drive them over to practice both days.

Let the games begin...Friday February 26th the students will participate in the Ag Olympics assembly at the SC gym for Woonsocket and SC (HS) students.  The festivities will start at 2:00.

The baskets did not fall in our favor last night, but none the less we are proud of our lady Blackhawks.  The ladies ended their season last night with 10 wins and 11 losses.

Baseball and softball season is getting closer which means we are looking to see who is interested in playing this summer. Please fill out the attached form and return it to Sanborn Central office by Wednesday, March 3rd.
Forms will go out today to grades PK-7th.

Do you know a deserving teacher that you would like to nominated for Teacher of the Year?  The Sanborn Central TOY Award is an honor given to only one teacher within our district each year.   If you or your student(s) would like to nominate a teacher for SC District Teacher of the Year, please take a few minutes and fill out a nomination form.  You can send a hard copy of the form back to the school or send it via email to laura.licht@ k12.sd.us, connie.vermeulen@k12.sd.us or justin.siemsen@k12.sd.us.  We have many deserving teachers, and this is an excellent opportunity to recognize those who have made an impact on your students.   Nomination forms are also located in the office and will be due back today.

Extra Curricular
Friday, February 26th the boys b-ball team will be at SC vs WS.  The JH game will start at 5:15 followed by JV at 6:30 and V at 8:00.  There will be 2 JH games (B and A) that will start at 4:15PM.  The JH games may be shortened up according to the clock and the JV game will start at 6:30.
Come hungry and show your support for Riley Schmiedt and family in a free will BBQ feed and silent auction.  Drop items off at the SC gym that night, or at the Sanborn Weekly Journal building before 12PM on the 26th.  All funds will help the family with medical expenses.

News From Mrs. Foxley
The Build Dakota Scholarship is now open. Seniors attending a technical school, please contact Mrs. Foxley to see if your program is eligible for the full-ride scholarship!

The application for Summer 2021 dual credit classes opens February 1. Please see Mrs. Foxley with questions.

There will be a representative from the Army National Guard available at 1:30 on Thursday, February 25 to talk with interested students. 

There will be an Army Active Duty and Reserve member available to meet with students Wednesday, March 3 at 1:30. 

Students interested in learning about healthcare jobs in SD can attend the Virtual Scrubs Camp on Wednesday, March 17th, 2021. Students will have the option of attending either a half-day in the morning or afternoon or for full day. Please see Mrs. Foxley if you are interested in attending!

Boys State applications are open to all juniors and seniors for the 2021 session! Boys State will be held May 31-June 4 on Northern State University's campus. Applications are due May 1. Please see Mrs. Foxley with questions about how to apply. 

Girls State applications are open! The event will be held on May 31-June 5 on University of South Dakota. Applications are due March 15. Please see Mrs. Foxley with questions about how to apply.
