Student Council will be meeting during lunch on Monday, August 31st.

Students interested in participating in Oral Interp this year should either stop in and see Ms. Farrell-Poncelet or email her at susan.farrell-poncelet@k12.sd.us. Due to competitions being a bit different this year, the SDHSAA is requiring a consent form signed by parents/guardians for each participant, so the sooner you let her know of interest, the sooner you can get your form signed and choose your piece.

Monday: 4:00 8th grade game will be followed by a short 7th grade game vs. Chamberlain in Forestburg. 5:30 JV will face off. Varsity & JV will come over on buses, or drive themselves if approved, for film and practice starting at 3:45. JV will watch film and prepare for game their JV game. Black game jerseys will be worn. Just helmets for varsity players. WS bus leaves at 3:00. Woony bus leaves at 3:15.

The lunch menu will have a core (C) and offer (O) portion daily.  If the food item has offer beside it, you can select it in addition to the core portion of your meal.  You will be served the main entree with every meal.

Congratulation to Coach Flatten and the Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central (Woonsocket, SD) varsity football team as they won Friday's home non-conference game against Chamberlain (SD) by a score of 14-0.

The Blackhawks were led by their stingy defense, which held Chamberlain to 55 total yards of offense. The Cubs went 6-21 through the air for 34 yards, and rushed 19 times for 21 yards. The defense was paced by Quinten Christensen’s 9 tackles, including 6 solo, and 1 sack. Noah Wormstadt had 3 tackles. Mason Schelske also had 3 tackles and recorded a sack. The Blackhawks forced 3 interceptions from Cub’s QB, Cruz Soulek. Tryce Slykhuis had two picks, while Camden Jost had the other.

Offensively, the Blackhawks ran the ball 50 times for 240 yards. Olinger led in yards with 94 yards on 6 carries and 2 TD's. Carter Grohs added 57 yards, and Slykhuis had 53 yards on the ground. Additionally, Slykhuis was 1-5 for 2 yards of passing. The Blackhawks offense ran 15 more plays than Chamberlain (55-40) and controlled the time of possession by a margin of 32:18 – 15:42.

We are making some adjustments due to the extremely high heat index predicted this week that will impact JH & HS times and what they will be wearing for gear.
